TFB Podcast Roundup 60: Weaponized Math and Aftermarket Parts
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 60. Math was always one of those subjects in school that I never really enjoyed or looked forward to. To be 100% honest, it was always a struggle for me throughout most of the school and something I almost never really appreciated until I started flying and shooting. While math can be applied to a great many recreational activities, few sports take advantage of math as well as shooting sports do whether its generating load data for a new cartridge, determining the proper torque specs for a given piece of hardware, or “weaponizing math” for precise long-range shots. No matter how you slice it, if you’re into firearms and you want to get optimal results from your firearms and components, throwing in even just a little bit of grade-school math will take you a long way. That’s why this week’s first selection for our 60th podcast roundup features the guys over at Gun Talk Media and their guest Frank Galli of The Sniper’s Hide. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s selection of gun-oriented podcasts.

TFB Podcast Roundup 59: USPSA Tech, Predator Control, & Survival
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 59. This week’s episodes feature a good mixture of fast-paced USPSA talk from our friend Dave at the Arrogant Marksman Podcast channel, some more traditional hunting talk with an emphasis on predator control for healthy waterfowl populations, and of course we’ll be diving back into our own podcast featured last week as usual. We’ll also be hearing once again from the great guys over at Primary & Secondary with their continuing discussion on survival tactics with tips and methods for keeping yourself ahead of the game in survival situations. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s selection of firearms podcast listening.

TFB Podcast Roundup 58: Which ACOG is the Best?
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 58. I hope everyone’s summer was great. This year I had a lot of good opportunities to get out and about with a lot of new guns and I’m very grateful to have been able to spend more time this summer shooting and competing than I did last year. However, like usual, I wasn’t really happy about the intense heat so you could say that I’m itching to dive headfirst not only into fall but also winter down here in the south. This week’s episodes are a combination of the old and the new as we’re bringing back a great episode from the Gun Talk Media podcast, a new podcast about unexpected enemies during SHTF situations, and of course, once again featuring one of our own homegrown podcasts with a long overdue guest – Nick C – TFB Staff Writer and Night Vision Extraordinaire. If you’re curious about the title, you won’t have long to figure it out, it’s our first featured episode of this week featuring Hop from TFBTV, DeltaThirtyFour, and BrassFacts discussing which ACOG is objectively the best ACOG (Hint, it’s the TA11). Sit back, relax, and as always, enjoy this week’s selection of gun podcast content.
TFB B-Side Podcast: Night Vision Talk with TFB's Nick C
You all know him and love him – Nick C! I’m really excited to finally have Nick C on the show to talk about night vision. Long-time readers of TFB will know that Nick has poured a lot of time, work, and broken parts into his weekly article series Friday Night Lights. Today we get to meet the man behind that series and pick his brain about his experience with night vision, how he came to be a writer for TFB, and what his personal opinions are on the night vision device industry and where it’s going. Nick absolutely loves everything to do with night vision and one of his greatest goals is to dispel a lot of the mysteries, and falsehoods that surround the night vision world.

TFB B-Side Podcast: Michael with Walk The Talk America (WTTA)
Mental health is a very polarizing subject on its own. Throw in firearms and you’ve got the ingredients for a heated discussion that is guaranteed to end any holiday family dinner in spectacular fashion. However, Michael Sodini, President of Walk the Talk America is attempting to end the stigma surrounding mental health care when it comes to the subject of owning firearms. Today Michael and I discuss his background in the firearms industry and how it lead to him starting up the WTTA. WTTA has seen some explosive growth since its inception and has given him hope that his efforts can save lives by reducing suicides by firearm. Michael’s company currently offers free and anonymous online mental health screening, and familiarization classes for mental health professionals that dispel many of the myths surrounding firearms, familiarize these professionals with live-fire experience on the range, and then how to apply the knowledge they’ve received in their clinical work. Please give a warm welcome to Michael Sodini of Walk the Talk America.
TFB Podcast Roundup 57: Heavy Hitting Guests and CCW Guns
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 57. This week’s smattering of podcasts covers a lot of different subjects and is a bit more focused on its individual guests rather than broad topics. This week we’ll hear from Dave Sohm from Mission Critical Concepts Training, Riley and Jacob from the Concealed Carry Focused Concealed Carry Podcast, Phil Strader from SIG Sauer talking about the new P365 X-Macro, Josh of Black Diamond Guns and Gear, Kenzie Fitzpatrick (3gunKenzie), and of course our very own home-grown TFB podcast featuring last week’s guest, Preston from Creative Arms and Quite Bore. Sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s selection of gun-focused podcasts.
TFB B-Side Podcast: Preston With QuietBore & Creative Arms
Suppressors are now one of the most popular and sought-after firearm accessories on the market. It’s almost universally accepted now that suppressors do provide a tangible benefit to shooters when employed correctly. However, the rub has always been that suppressors in the United States still remain one of the most expensive firearms accessories on the market. The folks over at Creative Arms and Quiet Bore are taking a different approach to suppressors and instead offer some of the most affordable suppressors on the market. In today’s episode of the TFB B-Side Podcast Preston and I talk about some of the benefits of the QuietBore lineup, their origins in DIY suppressor kits, and how some of Preston’s own personal interests have translated into improvements in the suppressor market.

TFB Podcast Roundup 56: Rimfire For Self-Defense, and Homesteading
Hello and welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 56! This week here in the mid-south we’ve finally received our first bit of reprieve from the harsh summer heat. For me, that means a lot more time spent on the range without my camera (and myself) overheating, and hopefully, that also translates to more firearms and gear reviews for everyone here. One of the things I like to do out on the range while I’m getting targets set up or loading magazines is listening to podcasts. This week’s selection of podcasts features some good general listening with one very specific podcast that piqued my interest and covers something we’ve talked about a few times here on TFB – using a rimfire gun for self-defense. The guys from the Gun Talk Radio podcast talk a bit about using Aguila 60-grain in a Beretta Bobcat to see if it might make for a more useful self-defense option over some other current .22LR self-defense offerings. As always, sit back, relax, and have a cold one while you soak in this week’s selection of gun podcast content.

TFB B-Side Podcast: Tara with How I Carry (Concealed Carry For Women)
For Today’s TFB Podcast episode I’ve brought on a recent acquaintance of mine, Tara from How I Carry. How I Carry is basically Tara’s online presence and what she does is specializes in what I think is a very underserved market – concealed carry advice and reviews for women. With more and more women taking interest in carrying concealed for themselves, the type of information that Tara provides could prove to be quite important – possibly even lifesaving for these new concealed carriers. Today I ask Tara about her best training, firearms, and gear advice that she has for other women. We also talk a bit about her journey from a non-gun owner, to a concealed carrier, to a budding competitor!
TFB B-Side Podcast: Is Reloading For You? With the Ultimate Reloader
Reloading is one of those hobbies I never thought I’d actually pick up – even as a firearms owner. However, all it took for me to get addicted to the benchtop hobby was for a good friend of mine to send me a very inexpensive Lee Challenger reloading press kit and from there, the rest was history. Reloading can seem intimidating for the uninitiated, I know I was quite intimidated during my first range trip with my first box of reloaded ammunition, however, 10 years down the road, I’ve not only gained a solid grasp on the concept, but I’ve also dipped into new rabbit holes of information I once again never thought I’d find myself in. Suffice it to say reloading is just as rewarding as it is educational and I personally think that more firearms owners should have at least a basic grasp of the concept. I think these sentiments are shared by our guest today, Gavin, a.k.a the Ultimate Reloader. Gavin runs a YouTube channel and website that specializes in all things reloading, as well as some great informative precision rifle content that has really been a valuable resource to me as a reloader over the years. I’m honored today to have him on the podcast with us to give you guys a bird’s eye view of handloading/reloading so that you can determine for yourself whether or not you’d like to pick it up either as a hobby or as a means to shoot more without vastly increasing the cost of ammunition.
TFB Podcast Roundup 54: 8.6 BLK, Cody Wilson, & the FPC
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 54! Part of why I like the podcast medium so much is that it gives the direct sources of information a chance to speak directly with the intended audience, rather than have them filtered and editorialized through media sources. Although the information in the podcast still might be curated for the audience’s sake, I still think it gives us better insight into who these people are, what they believe in, and how they intend to tackle problems or obstacles within their respective professions. Today we’ve got a couple of episodes from some people I’ve actually met in person and even some people who’ve been on TFB’s own podcasts in previous years. In addition to some more renowned names within the firearms industry, we’re also hearing from Faxon Firearms this week while they take on a deep dive into the new 8.6 BLK cartridge.

TFB Podcast Roundup 53: Hearing Protection, and Space Cowboys
Hello and welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 53! Every year I think the gun industry goes through an intense cycle of focusing on hearing protection and this inevitably sparks discussion around suppressors and other sound mitigation techniques. While over-the-ear hearing protection becomes a must, especially with supersonic or much more powerful or larger cartridges, with many standard intermediate cartridges, a suppressor is often the way to go. In one particular episode that caught my attention this week, Vortex Nation has on audiologist Grace Sturdivant, owner of OtoPro Technologies, to talk about the human ear, how it works, and what really needs to happen in order for us to protect our hearing while handling and enjoying firearms. In addition to that great episode, we’ve got other good podcasts for your commute, chore list, or study session. Sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s selection of gun-related podcast content for TFB Podcast Roundup 53!

TFB Podcast Roundup 52: Old Guests and New Podcasts
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 52! There is certainly a lot going on in the legislative arm of the firearms world these days and I hope that most of you are at least staying informed on what’s along the horizon for us as American gun owners. The summer months have also brought what seems like a whole new scene of gun owners and self-defense-oriented products and content, most likely because of a recent incident where a concealed carrier managed to stop a criminal from murdering many people at a shopping mall in Indiana. No doubt there will probably be plenty of talks analyzing the various information surrounding the incident and we’ll be sure to include them in this edition of the TFB Podcast Roundup. However, what is most interesting to me about the whole event is that it opened up a new discussion about what it means to be “accurate” with a pistol. Don’t know what I mean? Check out the Dicken Drill, go and shoot it and let us know what kind of results you get!

TFB B-Side Podcast: Hop and Luke Talk About New Hampshire
The State of New Hampshire is one that I’ve finally made the pilgrimage to. Along with my frequent firearms cohort Hop, we made our first official visit to the Granite State for the grand opening of the new SIG Sauer Experience Center (SEC). Along with those experiences, we were able to get a first look at some new firearms that will be coming out soon and take in the local scenery, culture, and traffic of the general tri-state area of Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. In today’s episode, we talk a bit about our experiences both that the SEC, SIG’s Exeter New Hampshire manufacturing facility, as well as what we like, and don’t like about the various waves that SIG has been making within the firearms industry and what the future might hold for both SIG and the rest of the firearms manufacturing industry.
TFB Podcast Roundup 51: Something for Everyone
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 51! The podcasting scene continues to change and evolve as time goes on and while this often sees many great podcasts disappear completely from the internet, it also means that there is almost always something new to listen to if you’ve grown bored of the generic pop music that is always piped through the airwaves. One podcast we frequently feature here on the TFB Podcast Roundup is Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Radio. I had a chance to finally meet with, speak to, and shoot with Tom at a recent firearms media event and much like I’ve said in the past, Tom also thinks that these online public conversations are not only important but bring the firearms community together as a whole. In honor of that sentiment, this week we’re going to try to get you a bit more variety in terms of what type of firearms content is featured in each podcast.
