Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world! A few weeks ago we had fellow TFB Writer Rusty S show us the Owyhee Takedown Bolt Action rifle in 22LR. For a lot of people, having a small, bolt-action rimfire rifle is more than enough for backpacking or perhaps even some quiet pest control on the homestead. The 22LR version of the rifle proved to be accurate enough, but there might have been some potential reliability issues with specific ammunition. Overall, I think you could do worse, but you could also do a lot better. And TacSol I think has done a lot better with their newest takedown rifle in the Owyhee lineup, the new Owyhee Takedown in 22 Magnum. Today we’ll take a look at this magnum edition of the Owyhee Takedown to see if it might be worth picking up to help you take care of some slightly larger critters.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of guns, gear, ammunition types, and history. Last week we departed from our normal rimfire coverage to talk about a slightly related ammunition called Pinfire ammunition. A lot of you seemed to be interested in the idea and if I get the chance, I’ll do my best to get a hold of some firearms and ammunition so we can take a much closer look at them for ourselves. This week we are getting back into more dedicated rimfire stuff with the Tactical Solutions XRT Drop-In 10/22 Trigger. This aftermarket 10/22 trigger pack launched right at the end of 2022 and is a world apart from a lot of the aftermarket triggers I’ve come across. Today we’ll check out its specifications and features, and report on the range experiences I’ve had so far with it to give you an idea of this is the type of trigger you’d want to pick up for your 10/22.

Since their founding twenty years ago, Boise, Idaho-based Tactical Solutions has made a name for itself in the industry most notably as Ruger rimfire specialists, although they also make successful products for other brands, such as their .22 Long Rifle conversion kits for Glock handguns. Since TacSol’s original Pac-Lite barrels for the Ruger Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, and 22/45 from two decades ago, their product lineup has expanded to encompass a good deal of parts and accessories for the vaunted 10/22 platform as well. The options on offer include customized complete 10/22 rifles, barrels, suppressors, receivers, and more. Now they’re adding a new trigger option to the catalog for 2023. Meet the drop-in 10/22 XRT trigger.

Let’s take a look at this military night vision observation device designed for reconnaissance purposes.

Our first installment of the new Build of the Week feature was submitted by Steve. One of my guilty pleasure pistols is my Ruger Mark I with a bull barrel.  It is not suppressed like this one though.

Using a pistol in .22LR offers a shooter a lot of fun and an affordable way to practice your pistol skills. However it is a bit difficult to get a .22LR pistol to match your normal pistol of choice. One such example is a .22LR trainer that matches my STI Steel Master. That is until the Tactical Solutions made the 2211 conversion kit. At last SHOT Show Tactical Solutions showed off their updated 2211 conversion kit. The TacSol 2211 has been around for a while but this newer version features a threaded barrel and integrated top rail. It is a .22LR conversion kit for 1911 and 2011 frames. We got one in for review so let’s take a look.

If you a regular reader of my posts – and I freely admit those numbers are low – you may already know that I enjoy the rimfire life as much, if not more, than my centerfire guns. Inexpensive to shoot, light on recoil and when paired with a quality silencer, very quiet. Whether you are a target shooter, hunter or plinker, there is joy to be had in a good rimfire rifle or pistol setup.

There are few things that I want these days that I actually need. MP5K? Sure I want it, but only in my twisted brain could I actually find a need for a compact roller locker. However the Tactical Solutions holster for the Ruger MKI, II, II, IV, 22/45 and PAC-LITE pistols is probably a piece of gear I would use multiple times a week.

Tactical Solutions introduced a new AR upper and complete AR rifle called the TSAR-223. Similar to the original TSAR-300 upper and rifle, the TSAR-223 is designed to reduce the overall length of your suppressed gun while still keeping a 16.1″ barrel length. This allows you to avoid paying a second tax stamp for the SBR, but keep the functional length of the gun to that of an SBR.

For 15 years, Tactical Solutions has quietly innovated some of the best rimfire pistol and rifle products on the market. And while there are a number of pistol suppressor hosts already available, TacSol has taken it upon themselves to produce the TLP-22, a gun with all of the features of the Pac-Lite barrel/upper built in from the start.
