The Athlon HELOS BTR rifle scope series comes in a wide variety of magnifications and objective lens sizes, but the one I’ve tested and reviewed here is the 4-20x50mm version with a Minute Of Angle (MOA) reticle and turrets. MIL reticle and turrets are also an option on all but one in the HELOS BTR line, which is the 1-10x28mm that comes in an MOA bullet drop compensator reticle. The Athlon HELOS BTR as tested has the reticle located in the first focal plane (FFP), and the magnification level of 4-20x is a nice jumping off point for targets 50 yards and beyond.

Leica’s Amplus 6 Riflescope is now available in an MOA version, which one has to presume is to please customers in the U.S. market mainly. Some of the features include a 6x power zoom, which should cover most essential hunting situations, as well as a generous eye relief. Leica scopes are famous for their wide field of view, and the Leica Amplus 6 is no exception with up to 38 meters FOV (100 m).

Athlon Optics has really made some waves in recent years, offering quite a variety of options between budget scopes around the $200 mark, all the way up to the $2000 spectrum. Athlon’s Argos 1-4x caught my eye when Adam S. reviewed it for AllOutdoor.com, so when I was looking to set up a rifle to eventually use as a sniper rifle for my department, I wanted to give Athlon Optics a try. One such optic was the Athlon ARES ETR 3-18×50 with a 34mm tube and UHD, extra-low dispersion glass. Athlon also let me use a set of their Precision Scope Rings as well.

Vortex Optics has announced the latest addition to their Razor HD LHT range, the 4.5-22×50 scope with a first focal plane reticle. The HD LHT lineup has been very popular with long range hunters and shooters. Adding an FFP option is sure to be a hit with the target audience.

One of the things that vaulted Vortex Optics to a household name is the fact that they offer a wide spectrum of optics to meet every budget.  They were kind enough to lend me their 6-24x50mm Diamondback Tactical rifle scope to review.  The Diamondback Tactical 6-24x is one of Vortex’s lower cost options, but Vortex still seemed to pack in plenty of useful features compared to its up-tiered brothers.  Let’s dig into Diamondback Tactical optic.

I expected the results to improve with match ammunition and a magnified optic. This was stated in the original article. I did not expect the results to show sub MOA performance at 100 yards!

I have to admit that I’m not previously familiar with the products of TRACT Optics, but their new TORIC sights for long range shooting looks very interesting at an affordable price.

To begin with I think most, if not all, AR15s should be able shoot 1 MOA groups. Unfortunately they don’t, and sometimes even the best rifle just won’t marry whatever ammunition your using. But here’s proof that this competition rifle is up for it.

Debuted back in February of this year, NIkon has been heavily pushing their new BLACK lineup of riflescopes. Designed to be value-priced and feature-packed, the optics have been well received, especially considering their sub $750 price points and lifetime warranty. One might say they are aiming straight at Vortex’s Viper PST II lineup.

Nikon, known for their optics (and fabulous cameras), has debuted their latest new series of riflescopes, the BLACK series. The BLACK series is designed specifically for precision long-range and “action rifle”
modern sporting rifle enthusiasts.

We have the pleasure of getting quite a few optics in for review. The vast majority of them are largely excellent products, but there is always a feature that one sees (especially on the low-end) that absolutely puts a burr up my derriere… a mismatch between the turret adjustment and the reticle.

He is an ethical hunter and a true marksman, making long distance shots with pellets seem truly easy. To top it off, Ted’s scope-cam videos are well put together, often catching pellets in flight and documenting seemingly impossible shots.
