The Desert Eagle is one of the most widely used firearms in movies; while watching Deadpool & Wolverine, I pointed out to my wife that Deadpool was using Desert Eagles, and this wasn’t the first time I’d done this during a movie. Having never fired one until recently, I wondered why they were so popular in movies but not so much in the home or self-defense realm. I had my suspicions. It’s a giant, intimidating handgun, perfect for use in cinema. However, that doesn’t translate well into concealed carrying or home defense, so I had to test it out.

In Part 1 we looked at mechanically sealed revolvers, today we’ll focus on “Gap Sealing Cartridges”, an uncommon approach with plenty of potential.

Let’s take a look at the Magnum Research BFR in 360 Buckhammer.

The smallest long-cylinder Biggest Finest Revolver is what we have for today’s Photo Of The Day. Dubbed BFR Thunder Snub, this Magnum Research wheelgun is chambered in .45-70 Government and although it has a 3″ barrel, its overall length is over 10″ and it weighs in at around 3.5 lbs. So it’s small compared to its siblings but it will dwarf any normal snubby. Last week we talked about the hot new SIG Sauer P322 pistol. The P322 is quite an impressive specimen when it comes to .22LR pistols and there was a lot of discussion about various uses different people might have for it. One such idea would be to use the P322 as a survival, camping, or hiking pistol due to its combination of lightweight construction, magazine capacity, and other features. However, as impressive as the P322 is, it wasn’t the first .22LR pistol to feature 20-round magazines. Cue the probably long forgotten Magnum Research Mountain Eagle pistol. Today we’ll be going over some of its features and performance to see what it’s all about!

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of their BFR (Biggest Finest Revolver) revolver, Magnum Research has announced a limited edition version of this wheelgun. The 20th Anniversary BFR is chambered in .45-70 Government, the first production caliber of the BFR revolver, and there will be only 20 of these custom anniversary revolvers ever made.

According to a recent press release it seems that the Baby Eagle is set to make a return, this time as the Series III. The Baby Eagle is a popular pistol produced by Magnum Research and they have just started importing the pistols again. The pistols are being manufactured by BUL Armory. We briefly covered BUL Armory’s line of 2020 competition and carry options at SHOT Show 2020 and more recently James Reeves reviewed one of their Alloy/Polymer hybrid 1911 pistols.

Photo Of The Day – What we have here is the legendary DESERT EAGLE XIX with Golden Tiger Stripes. The Mark XIX Desert Eagle is Made in the USA by Magnum Research (of the Kahr Group). The pistol is gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol with a 7 round capacity in .50 AE. If you chose .44 Magnum you get an extra round in capacity.

This year Magnum Research is bringing their custom 1911s to the market with a Crusader and a Viking-themed 1911, in addition to their Presidential Donald Trump Desert Eagle. We were told that the Presidental handgun will be sent to the Donal Trump Presidental Library collection. The Crusader and Viking 1911s are modeled after various designs associated with the Vikings and Crusader orders.

Stopping by Kahr’s booth to check out new 6-shot cylinder BFR revolvers from Magnum Research, I instead was sidetracked by a few things – a massive, 17.5 inch barrelled .45-70 revolver from Magnum Research’s custom shop, and multiple Trump-themed firearms.

Outlaw Ordnance and the Kahr Firearms Group have teamed up to bring the firearm industry some pretty gnarly custom pistols in the last couple of years, and they are at it again. Magnum Research has dropped their 2nd “Warrior Traditions” pistol with the unveiling of a Custom Desert Eagle Crusader 1911 chambered in .45 ACP which was professionally Cerakoted by none other than Outlaw Ordnance. This pistol is going to have an MSRP of $1,250 and allegedly only 50 firearms are going to be made. The complete specifications for the Crusader 1911 can be read below:

When looking around at different pawn shops around the state, I always think it’s amazing what I find. One of the best purchases I’ve made was the Magnum Research Mountain Eagle. This rarity was on the shelf for $150 originally and after some negotiation, I managed to talk the guy down to $119.99. Now I will be honest, if this was a brand new production gun I probably wouldn’t have touched it. This gun looks like its seen better days but it’s the subtle Magnum Research styling cues that I love the most.
