Arizona SB 1424 Would Bring Gun Safety Training To Schools

If we want firearms safety to improve across the U.S., one way to do so is by emphasizing training at young ages—and Arizona’s state legislators are now looking at making gun safety part of the public school curriculum. Arizona SB 1424 is currently working its way through the House, and if it comes to pass, it might save lives.

Iowa Politicians Approve "Guns In Schools" Students First Safety Act

Iowans may soon see guns in schools—legally—under the new Students First Safety Act. Iowa’s state legislature recently passed the Students First Safety Act with 61 percent of the house voting in favor of the law (which is now labeled as HF2586). Note that this does not mean the act is law at this point—it must still be approved by Iowa’s state senate.

TFB PSA: Don't Deck the Halls With Your Balls This Christmas

I’m sure a lot of you have probably seen the video that has been circulating around social media and forums of some allegedly unfortunate fellow who accidentally gave himself a free vasectomy. The video of the accident is also accompanied by what looks to be discharge papers for the patient listing out the details of the entry and exit wound. While it’s entirely plausible that this video and the supporting document are falsified, I also wouldn’t put it out of the realm of possibility that this guy was simply being wildly irresponsible with his firearm for internet points, and wound up getting a 9mm screening of the Nutcracker. After all, it’s happened several times in the past and this incident seems to follow all the same patterns that the other accidents did. For those of you who can’t watch the video, we’ll go over it in more detail below. Obviously, you shouldn’t do anything like this with your own guns, that goes without saying, but just in case you’re fuzzy on the topic, Don’t point any type of firearm at your groin for internet clout.

Bolle Safety Introduces New Platinum Technology Anti-Fog Safety Glasses

One of the biggest annoyances for me on the range when it comes to wearing safety glasses is fog. Most lenses out there will eventually fog even in optimal conditions but on extremely hot or humid days it can be even worse with your body’s heat doing its best to fog up the inside of your lenses. Bollé Safety has just announced a solution to that problem with the introduction of their new Platinum Technology equipped safety glasses which have been able to demonstrate in tests that they are capable of resisting the appearance of fog for 15 minutes above a source of steam which is a resistance equivalent to 100 times higher than the requirements defined by industry EN166 standard.

Public Service Announcement: Don't Start A Wildfire

Wildfires have long been a feature of life in the western states. Unfortunately, target shooting starts some of those fires. The good news is that target shooting fires are preventable, so let’s discuss how we can keep them from happening. Public lands make for some of the best shooting spots, but they are at risk of closure every time a negligent shooter starts a wildfire.

4th Day of TFB Christmas: You'll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid!

If you don’t get the reference in the title, first of all, let me sincerely apologize to you for not having the pleasure of witnessing a true classic of American Christmas movies. Second, go watch the movie. Now that you’ve had a chance to understand where I’m coming from let’s talk about eye protection. There are a lot of arguments to be made on the merits of wearing eye protection all the time but I know there are many of us out there that feel that eye protection isn’t always necessary especially when it interferes with your vision and by extension your ability to see and shoot a target. However, I think there are a few times where everyone agrees it’s probably in your best interest to actually wear eye protection, most notably, when you’re shooting steel, or other hard targets or shooting with a suppressor mounted. In these cases, you can avoid some pretty uncomfortable or possibly debilitating injuries from bits of projectile or blowback coming towards your eyes which everyone knows are basically the groin of the head. Anyway, pick up some eye protection this Christmas so that you don’t wind up shooting your eye out, kid.
