If you haven’t shot the back-to-basics VZ-58 rifle, I can tell you that it sends the brass just as pictured here – kind of straight up, and with brute force to a place far, far away. Don’t try to bump fire one with a cap on, because the cap will only catch the flying brass and direct it to your face. Don’t ask me how I know, and follow us for more advice like this.

The Baghdad is a little known about rifle that is still extremely rare to come across both in the United States and even in Iraq. There are definitely more questions than answers when it comes to what we actually know about the rifle:
It appears to have been built using the same machines and tooling as the Rasheed carbine production line. The ‘machine chatter’ as Scott mentions
The rifle has stamped years of production from 1969 to 1977.
There are a number of Egyptian Rasheed carbines that have Baghdad safety toggle blocks.
Differences between the Baghdad and the Rasheed are the buttplate cleaning kit cavity, apparently a slightly different choice of wood for the stock.
Some of the stamping font has been different from rifle years, other times instead of showing an Iraqi acceptance mark there is an eagle of Saladin.

New to the United States AK market are  Zastava Arms two new ZPAP M92 pistol variants.  With both fixed and side-folding SB Tactical braces, I was curious how these two Krinkov style pistols would preform.  Lucky for me, Zastava was kind enough to send both new variants of the ZPAPM92 over for review.

In all honesty, I never planned on buying a PTR 32 KF and it stemmed from a rather simple mistake that turned into a new gun purchase. I was online and instead of ordering 100 rounds of 5.56 ammo, I ordered a 1,000 round case of 7.62×39. I still to this day don’t understand whose mistake it was, but rather than trying to get my money back, I decided to buy a new gun. Since I was young. I grew up shooting AKs and variations of the AK system so I wanted to look for something a bit different. I checked out a few different AR-15s in 7.62×39 but ended up liking the PTR 32 most.

According to TASS Russian News Agency, the Belarusian State-owned Foreign Trade Unitary Enterprise “BELSPETSVNESHTECHNIKA” (BSVT) has started assembling Vepr rifles and shotguns from Russian-made Molot parts. TASS was informed about this cooperation by a “Belarusian defense industry contact” during the MILEX 2019 arms exhibition recently held in Minsk, Belarus.

AC-Unity is a firearms and accessories manufacturing company located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They have recently started exporting new quad stack 60-round 7.62x39mm AK magazines to the USA. This company and its products are mostly unknown to the American gun community that’s why I decided to do a little research to find out who they are and what they make.

Xtech Tactical has introduced a new 7.62x39mm 30 round AK magazine called MAG47. The new magazine has a polymer construction with metal reinforced front and rear lugs as well as metal inserts underneath the feed lips providing a metal reinforcement for the feed lips, too.

Atlantic Firearms has announced the launch of a customized Draco pistol. They partnered with several other companies to source the different aftermarket furniture parts and the Cerakoting service for these Draco pistols. The host rifles are the same well-known Romanian import guns chambered in 7.62x39mm.

21st Century Asian Arms Race spotted an image shared on the website of the Office of the Azeri President that is showing a rifle of Belarusian origins in a unit armory locker of the Azeri Armed Forces. The rifle in question was previously reported on by TFB in February of this year. Appearing in a display put on by the state-owned Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus was an AR15 chambered in 7.62x39mm, configured to take AKM-patterned magazines (as opposed to STANAG configured ones, also popular for 7.62x39mm AR15 derivatives). Where the rifle is made or imported from is difficult to discern. Originally the design is actually a U.S. one, introduced at SHOT 2017 by a startup called Arsenal Firearms, with the nomenclature as the “Switch”, also offered in 5.45x45mm. The website appears to be down and it doesn’t look like it saw much success in the United States. However at the display of the rifle in Belarus, there was a BSVT flag and placard right next to it. BSVT is an abbreviation for BELSPETSVNESHTECHNIKA, a subsidiary of the aforementioned Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus. The company produces defense items from small arms to missiles.

In the late ’50s, there was a need in the armed forces of Soviet Union for replacing the rifles deployed in sniper and DMR roles. By that time they were mainly using scoped Mosin-Nagant, SVT and SKS rifles. All these rifles were outdated and they needed something new that would better integrate with the newly adopted assault rifles.
