In this shot from Liepaja, Latvia, a Portuguese Navy service member and U.S. Marines from Apache Company, 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance, move together during an integrated patrolling exercise. The training is part of BALTOPS 25, NATO’s premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Sea region. The Portuguese Navy uses the Heckler & Koch G3, with full Spuhr upgrades. A great way to make an old (but gold) firearm like new again. The sight is from Aimpoint, and the sidearm is from Austria - a Glock.

Who wants an affordable G3? Everybody, right? The Heckler & Koch-built battle rifle is a classic weapon of the Cold War, and now, Century Arms has its own take on the formula with its new CA-3.

POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, is TFB’s recurring articles where we go to great length trying to find the best pictures and stories out there. Today we have an excellent photo. Unfortunately, there is no reference whatsoever other than “Close combat demonstration by German Kampfschwimmer“.

Photo Of The Day – it is time for Portugal and having a look at what their Special Forces have in their armoury. We’re looking at photos from their recruiting campaign, and as you can see, there is a nice variety of old and modern Heckler & Koch rifles as well as Galils.

Last year, we shared a lot of pictures from Swedish Ordnance and their showcase at EnforceTac in Germany. ( TFB: Swedish Ordnance at EnforceTac 2018)

The Portuguese NAVY joins the Swedish Army and Home Guard in bringing eternal life to the Heckler & Koch G3 by buying the Spuhr Upgrade Kit for their service rifles.

I have never shot one myself, but I have heard rumors that short-barreled Heckler & Koch G3s are quite nasty to shoot.

Catching the muzzle flash from a Machine Gun is always a welcome bonus as a photographer, and for today’s pictures, we have a few.

In mid-April, Kenyan police officers in Nandi County closed up shop to catch a Champions League match between Manchester United and Barcelona.  The Independent reported that while the officers were out, thieves broke into the police station and stole HK G3 rifles.

This article takes us to the South of Germany and Upper Bavaria, in the Chiemgau Alps. 15 teams from six countries met the challenges of the German Mountain Warfare Competition.

It’s time to get a little bit technical in Today’s Photo Of The Day.

If you follow what’s going on here at TFB you know about the Spuhr accessories for the Heckler & Koch G3.

Recently, going through my old photos, I found a few pictures of POF G3 rifles from the time I worked in Pakistan. The rifles on the picture are old, first generation G3s with wooden handguards and stocks, something you don’t see every day.

Swedish Ordnance is a small company outside Stockholm, Sweden.
