The AR-15 is undoubtedly the most popular gun in America. Virtually all gun owners have at least used, if not built, multiple of them. Every once in a while, there is one that is a stumper. This is the story of the strangest front sight base I have ever dealt with.

More than five years ago, I published a review on the MicroMOA Govnah, a tool-less adjustable gas block with a three-setting push plate. Today, even though the Govnah is no longer available, I still believe that gas regulation is an important part of shooting a suppressed direct impingement AR-15 rifle. And I’m always on the hunt for innovative gas block designs. RIFLESPEED offers a gas block that can be opened up or closed down with a simple twist of the wrist. Don’t worry, if you have a longer barrel or a longer handguard, RIFLESPEED has models with varying lengths of adjustment rings to get a solid grip. The only possible downside I’ve noticed so far is the need for a proprietary straight gas tube.

Mekanix, a company based in Mølnbukt, Norway, have developed a handguard and a gas block that fits the Heckler & Koch`s MR223/HK416/MR556 rifles. They seem to have a lot of time at hand to develop new and clever solutions.

Wilson Combat has announced the availability of a Bullet Proof series product – an adjustable gas block for AR-15 and AR-10 pattern rifles. Adjustable gas blocks are getting more and more popular because they are really handy tools for fine tuning your firearm to any particular load and, of course, for adjusting the gas system  for use with suppressors.

Radian Weapons has come out with a few new products this year that were showcased at SHOT Show 2020. With some new rifle parts like the Radian Weapons Regulator Adjustable Gas block. There are also new patented Cerkote designs, a brand new extended bolt catch, and an all-new in-house Glock optics ready slide, Radian Weapons has all the bases covered for this year’s SHOT Show.

Strike Industries keeps releasing the products that they teased at SHOT Show 2019. Past Friday, they officially launched the Collar Adjustable Gas Block (CAGB) for AR-15 rifles. This device allows to select one of the five gas port size options or even completely close the gas port.

Our partnership with Strike Industries was an amazing experience from the very beginning of SHOT Show 2019. We hosted them at our range day booth and they brought one of those high-speed low drag Phantom cameras. Anyone at the range could walk into our booth, shoot a gun, have it filmed in slow motion and then receive his video at Strike Industries booth at the exhibition. This author didn’t miss that chance, too.

Probably the most interesting accessories that we saw during the Arms & Hunting 2018 exhibition were the AK upgrade parts introduce by a company called L.A.C. (L. A. Customs). This is a fairly new and small company yet it makes really cool products. In this article, we’ll take a brief look at two adjustable AK gas blocks made by this company.

Rifle Dynamics has designed a new tunable AK gas block. Currently, it is available only as an upgrade option for the company’s production model rifles, however, according to the company officials, they may offer it as a separate part in the foreseeable future. Strike Industries has announced that their new enhanced low profile AR-15 gas block is now available for purchase. The company advertises this gas block to be a robust, lightweight and affordable product. Let’s take a closer look.

A couple of months ago,  we reported about one of the reloading products made by this Slovenian company. Recently Armanov has released an adjustable gas block for AR-15 rifles. According to the company, before releasing this product to the market they have tested it for several weeks to make sure it works flawlessly and can be offered to their customers.

ODIN Works has introduced two new versions of their adjustable gas block designed for barrels that have .875″ and .936″ diameter at the gas block mounting portion. The most common AR-15 gas block diameter is the .750″. However, some barrels with thick match profile or those with large bores have a larger diameter at the gas block portion and require enlarged gas blocks.

During SHOT Show 2018, Anderson Manufacturing has introduced an AR-15 upper with a different muzzle device, gas block and handguard attachment systems as well as a built-in backup rear sight.

About a week ago we took a look at a custom AK rifle ( SK-17) made by Fire Control Group Manufacturing. Among other features, this rifle had a simple but rather interesting part made by the same company. It is called Muzzle Device Detent Block (MDDB). Let’s see what makes it interesting.

Samson Manufacturing has released an AR-15 low profile gas block which is extremely lightweight weighing only .63 oz. The company targets this product to people who are building lightweight AR-15 rifles. To many people, weight reduction wherever it is possible (even in very small amounts) is important for their ultra lightweight build. At the same time, it is designed to retain the original strength not to compromise the functionality of the weapon system.
