I have spent a lot of time this summer shooting mid-bore rifles for reviews. My range sessions have involved a lot of .35 Whelen, .375 H&H, and .338 Lapua ammo, which has been both fun and expensive. While those pursuits have all been supersonic, my newfound supply of reloading supplies in those bore diameters got me looking at a few options. One of those is the 375 Raptor, which is a truly interesting cartridge for silencer aficionados.

 Franklin Armory, are getting into the ammunition business and its not just a typical 55gr 5.56 round. They’ve launched out the gate with something pretty interesting - Rabbit Rounds. A new multiple-projectile cartridge designed to more effectively harvest smaller game with the ubiquitous AR-15-style modern sporting rifle.

As hunting seasons get underway, if you joined one of the new cartridge bandwagons like 7mm PRC or 300 PRC, you might be finding it difficult to locate ammo at your local gun shop. There is good news though that Federal is producing more offerings of PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) rounds everyday. This includes their latest Berger Elite Hunter 7mm PRC as well as ELD-X 300 PRC.

If you ventured out into the wild and currently own a rifle chambered in the new 300 HAMR cartridge, Remington has got your back by not only producing and cataloging that ammunition, but it will also be available this hunting season. They have announced that their Remington Core-Lokt flavor of 300 HAMR is now shipping to dealers across the US.

Federal Premium has once again secured a law enforcement ammunition contract, and this time it is for both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO. The Nordic Police agencies are well known for being technically advanced and have very stringent performance requirements for their products. As a result, they have opted for some of Federal’s ammunition to be supplied to their officers.

It’s that time of year for hunting seasons and the big dawgs in the ammunition space want to have product on the shelves so we are adequately outfitted for all of our hunts. This includes the two titans of Remington and Federal. Four new selections of their hunting ammo are now shipping to dealers across the US, and we’ll share what flavors and choices you can come to expect.

If you consider yourself a competitive shotgunner, or are an aspiring one, then you should be excited to hear that Federal’s new Action Shotgun Rifled Slug ammo is now shipping to dealers across the US. This selection of ammo was produced by Federal specifically for training and competitive use.

The stalwart ammunition manufacturers of Remington and Federal have a couple new announcements for us as we head into fall, and the many hunting seasons that come with the changing of seasons. Remington has announced that their Core-Lokt Tipped will now be offered in 7mm Backcountry while Federal is debuting some of their Power-Shok handgun lineup in .45 Colt.

Making your own ammunition is about more than just saving money. It is about being ready and staying safe. When a country depends on others for something as important as ammunition, it can run into problems. Supply chains can break. Other countries might not sell when you need it most. Recent world events have shown how quickly things can go wrong.

Liberty Ammunition has a new handgun ammunition offering. The SPIKE 2.0 is a new development on the original SPIKE ammo, which featured a NAS3 case. Some pocket pistols struggle with that case design thanks to their unsupported chambers. SPIKE 2.0 takes the bullet design of the original and pairs it with a brass case for wider compatibility.

Shell Shock Technologies has commercially released its .338 Lapua NAS3 cartridge cases, extending the company’s two-piece NAS3 technology into one of the most demanding long-range calibers on the market. The cases are available now direct from the manufacturer in quantities ranging from 250 to 5,000.

Back at SHOT Show, the Winchester Ammunition booth had some new products they were showing off, including new long-range ammo and a new line of cartridges specifically aimed at feeding lever-action rifles. Now, the Winchester Lever Range is on its way to dealers, and you can arm yourself with this updated lineup.

Arguments over calibers are about as old as using calibers to measure projectiles launched with gunpowder. One can imagine the early pioneers of firearms debating the best bullet sizes while making their own black powder. These debates continue, with one of the most legendary ones being over the three most popular handgun cartridges: 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Which should you choose? Let’s break it down.
