Smith & Wesson Announces M&P15 SBRs
Smith & Wesson has announced the M&P15 is now available in three varieties of Short Barreled Rifle configurations. The new SBRs are a welcome addition to the trusted M&P15 platform that many of us have come to know and love over the years due to the quality and dependability Smith and Wesson offers at remarkably competitive prices. As with their longer predecessors, the
M&P15 SBR is built to perform, maintaining versatility and reliability in exacting environments for the most demanding professional and sporting applications.
Lightweight and rugged, all M&P15 SBRs feature an 11.5” Armornite-finished barrel for maneuverability and ballistic performance. All models feature forged receivers, including an integrated trigger guard, M&P flat-faced triggers, chromed firing pins, ambidextrous selectors, and A2 flash suppressors. Each will ship with a pair of M-LOK rail sections for adapting Picatinny accessories on the handguard, QD sling mounts, and one 30-round magazine.
Let’s look at the features that set the M&P15 SBR, M&P15T SBR, and the M&P15 SBR BCM Gunfighter models apart.
M&P15 SBR
The standard M&P15 SBR model features a 9” Free-float M-LOK handguard, Troy ambidextrous extended charging handle, Magpul MOE grip and Carbine stock, and a set of MBUS front and rear flip-up sights.
M&P15T SBR
The M&P15T SBR is equipped with a 10.5” Free-float M-LOK handguard, a Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle, and Williams Gun Sight Company folding front and rear sights. The furniture changes as well, going with a B5 Systems P-Grip 23 and SOPMOD stock.
M&P15 SBR BCM Gunfighter
Being an A2 Front sight gas block junkie, it’s nice to see the M&P15 SBR BCM Gunfighter version mated to a Williams Gun Sight Company folding rear sight. Of course, this model comes with a BCM Gunfighter M-LOK forend as well and maintains the same B5 Systems furniture from the M&P15T SBR.
MSRP on the M&P15 SBR and the M&P15 SBR BCM Gunfighter is $1279, with a slight bump for the M&P15T SBR at $1295.
I’m a big fan of straight-to-the-point factory AR-15s that provide everything I need and nothing I don’t, especially when they are reasonably priced. The timing of this release sparks curiosity for me. I wonder if it has to do with faster form 4 times or perhaps if it is in anticipation of a brighter possible future without an NFA as we know it. Either way, great to see another announcement from Smith & Wesson. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Should be more available than Colt, so I might have one in the future.
Literally not a single mention about the BCG or barrel. Are they still using 4140 barrels? This is all furniture marketing.
