SIG Sauer P365-MACH3D Adds a 3D-Printed Compensator To The P365

3D printing has now reached production handguns, and up to 30% less muzzle rise is the headline promise behind the P365-MACH3D. This is a micro-compact 9mm that SIG Sauer pitches with the line "Peak Performance. Everyday Carry."

Most of that promise rides on the MACH3D compensator, which is produced with additive manufacturing (a posh word for 3D printing) so it can port gases with what SIG Sauer calls unrivaled efficiency. The goal is a "neutral" return to zero, meaning flatter shooting, quicker follow-up shots and better control from a pistol this small.

The compensator mounts to a 3.4-inch carbon steel bull barrel, and the slide carries a Nitron finish over stainless steel, with new aggressive serrations and a SIG-LOC COMPACT optic cut.

Controls and ergonomics get attention too. A flat skeletonized trigger sits in the striker-fired action, and an extended slide release and a detachable magazine funnel come standard. The XMACRO compact grip module has a standard 1913 rail and interchangeable backstraps, and the XRAY3 Day/Night sights are fitted front and rear. Two 17-round steel magazines with high-visibility followers ship with the pistol.

Three versions are listed:

  • 365XCA-9-BXR3P-M3D: black XMACRO grip module
  • 365XCA-9-M3D-CBT: Coyote XMACRO polymer grip module
  • 365XCA-9-BXR3P-M3D-RXSL: the black version with a ROMEO-X SIG-LOC COMPACT Circle Dot already installed

I have to say that the Coyote version is by far my favorite, with an optic, of course.

SIG Sauer P365-MACH3D key features:

Shoots great. Noticeably less recoil than the integrated comp models. My only point of contention is the threaded barrel. It's not threaded enough to use with a suppressor, but threaded enough to where I can't sell them to CA LEO buyers. I wish they had gone with an attachment method somewhat like the ramjet that just uses a cam screw. I think there's enough room in the design that infringement could be avoided.

  • If only sig would add a double stack P210 to their lineup…
