POTD: The SPAS-12 Lives On in Tactical Imports' Non-Restricted SG-12
How many remember Rutger Hauer in “The Hitcher” nowadays? Fewer and fewer, I’d presume, but everyone knows the SPAS-12 he used. It’s the shotgun that defined tactical shotguns for an entire generation, dominating everything from real special operations to the silver screen as the ultimate symbol of concentrated firepower. Now, Tactical Imports Canada has engineered a non-restricted interpretation of the Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun.
The SG-12 SPAS is both semi-automatic and pump-action; a simple button press on the pump handle allows you to switch between operating modes on the fly with the same versatility that made the original indispensable for elite units worldwide.
Built on an existing receiver with SPAS-12 inspired components (made by Sulun), the 12-gauge 21.5" gun features a 3-inch chamber, ghost-ring sights for precision target work, and a gas piston system for reliable operation in adverse conditions. The handguard, steel with parkerized finish, includes venting for cooling and reduced weight.
Tactical Imports addressed the original SPAS design limitations - the loading mechanism, buffer system, and sling attachment - making this a refined evolution of a firearm that never quite lost its mystique.

Waiting until the updated 'fixed stock' design is finished, the Gen 1's fixed stock looked terrible, apparently the updated one for the current Gen 2 will look more like the real SPAS12's fixed stock, but won't be available or a few months.
