Today’s Photo Of The Day brings some SIG SAUER to the heat. Unfortunately, they are all sold out despite a price of $2,999.99, but we can at least admire some images of a pretty cool firearm.

The story is that in September 2022, SIG SAUER secured the USSOCOM contract for the RSAR rifle kit. The search for this kind of PDW-style rifle began in 2017, driven by specific requirements to meet the operational needs of USSOCOM forces. The contract demanded a highly concealable weapon with suppressor compatibility, barrel interchangeability, and maximum firepower. The 7.75" RATTLER LT in 5.56, along with 7.62x39 barrel configurations and SLH suppressors, met these stringent criteria, ultimately securing the award due to its compact size and exceptional performance.

Under a five-year indefinite delivery contract, the RSAR rifle will be produced in this SWG configuration as the RSAR999 in a limited-quantity run. Each unit included a Pelican Case, Magpul Dual QD Sling, SIG Iron Sights, an optional low-profile brass deflector, a Single Point Adapter, and a Certificate of Authenticity. Getting one now will be difficult unless you’re lucky in the second-hand market.

After initially writing off the Sig SBR’s and the whole 300blk thing I’m starting to rethink. Especially the Rattler in like a 9” with a suppressor.

The 300blk is really a versatile thing. After watching a video of a guy using 95 grain all coppers at 2750 in a sbr there’s really not much not to like inside of 200 yards. And I just can’t see many scenarios where I have to try to defend myself or my family outside of that range.
