Mossberg has introduced three new Slugster models to its well-known 500 series of pump-action shotguns. These shotguns are designed for those who prioritize accuracy and performance when using slugs, offering options in 12 gauge, 20 gauge, and .410 bore. The new Slugsters build on the established reputation of the 500 series, which has been a reliable choice for hunters and shooters for nearly six decades.

The Slugster models are tailored for firing slugs, featuring fully rifled barrels in the 12- and 20-gauge versions and a cylinder bore barrel in the .410 model. These designs enhance precision at extended ranges, while adjustable rifle-style sights and drilled and tapped receivers allow users to further improve accuracy with optics. The 24-inch barrels on the 12- and 20-gauge models (20-inch on the .410) are intended to provide consistent performance for hunting applications.

These shotguns are particularly useful for hunters in areas where rifle hunting is restricted, as slugs offer an effective combination of range and stopping power. The robust construction of the 500 series, including twin action bars, dual extractors, and steel-to-steel lockup, ensures reliable operation in challenging field conditions.

Standard features across the lineup include a 3-inch chamber, 5+1 capacity, and Mossberg’s ambidextrous top-mounted safety. The synthetic stock and matte blue metal finish provide durability and a straightforward design suited for field use. Weighing between 6 and 7 pounds depending on the model, these shotguns are manageable for a variety of hunting scenarios.

Priced at $518, the Slugster models offer an accessible option for hunters seeking a dedicated platform for slug use. Additionally, as suppressors become increasingly common for hunting in many states, the Slugster’s compatibility with threaded suppressors offers a quieter alternative for those who prefer reduced noise while shooting.

The Mossberg 500 Slugsters are a practical addition to the 500 series, emphasizing accuracy and reliability for slug hunters. More information about these new models and the broader Mossberg 500 lineup is available at   www.mossberg.com.
