Leupold's new LCO Pro F2 represents the kind of iterative leap that happens when a company has the confidence to walk back to the drawing board with a successful product. The original LCO won devotees for optical clarity and build integrity, but the F2 isn't a tweak; it's a redesign that addresses what serious shooters actually ask for.

The Professional-Grade Red Dot Optical System centers on Leupold's premium aspheric lens, and the results here are the marketing-proof version of "crystal-clear without distortion." The 1x magnification delivers unlimited eye relief, which matters during transitions or when shooting unconventional positions. The housing itself got a purpose-built redesign, recessing the lens to cut glare while expanding your field of view for situational awareness. On a full-size dot, that kind of clarity compounds fast across a shooting day.

The illumination story carries more nuance than the standard daylight/night split. Leupold equipped the F2 with 20 daylight and 10 night-vision settings, accessed through a rotary dial that feels tactile and deliberate.

The Rapid Illumination Dial feature lets you cycle through all 20 settings with a half-turn spin, which is useful if light changes fast or if you're running teams across conditions. The counterintuitive move here is the lockout mode, which disables the Motion Sensor Technology (MST) once you've locked in your preferred brightness.

This prevents accidental drift from holster-draw friction or incidental contact, a fix for a problem that technically shouldn't exist but absolutely does in the field.

The reticle menu offers four flavors, all useful: a clean 1 MOA dot, a dot with compass points, a circle-dot with compass points, or the standard circle.

The most versatile play for mixed-distance shooting is the 65 MOA ring with compass points and 1 MOA center dot, which gives you reference marks for rapid transitions and a precision hold inside ten yards.

Battery life lands at 30,000 hours average run time thanks to the MST putting the dot to sleep after five minutes of inactivity and waking it on movement. That's north of three years of continuous operation, the kind of metric that means you're unlikely to worry about the CR2032 inside too often.

The build is one-piece machined aluminum, waterproof to 66 feet and rated fogproof and shockproof. It sits at absolute co-witness height, 1.5 inches, and hits 9.6 ounces loaded with battery.
