Hot Gat Or Fudd Crap: Galil ARM Or Galil HARM

This episode of HGFC is my first at-bat in the series, and I found a weird one for your viewing pleasure. I love a good Galil. I own a few, and have shared reviews on both the ARM and SAR models. But what is truly a Galil? Is it possible for the excesses of a listing to push an otherwise borderline gun over the edge into fudd crap territory? Well dear reader, that is for you to decide.

But first, in our last edition our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the rare pre-ban FAMAS was a hot gat.

Now back to his week's edition, here's the seller's description:

“THIS IS A CUSTOM BUILT RIFLE,AND IS NOT AN '' IMI '' LIKE ENGRAVED ON RECEIVER; AND IS NOT BEING ''MISREPRESENTED '' AS AN ORIGINAL ''IMI'' , BUT A RECEIVER FROM RAPID FIRE. I BELIEVE ORIGINAL BUILDER HAD TO QUIT ENGRAVING 'IMI' ON HIS BUILDS ??. RIFLE WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT OVER 3 YEARS AGO,AND NEVER DID RUN RIGHT. SENT BACK TWICE,STILL WOULDNT RUN. THE ORIGINAL BUILDER OFFERED MY $$$$ BACK. I REFUSED AND HAD ANOTHER BUILDER 'LOOK' AT IT. :) !! AFTER COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLING AND COMPLETELY REDOING,REBUILDING- REMACHINING,REDOING HEADSPACING,TIMING, REPLACING BULLET GUIDE,REPLACING BOLT CARRIER/BOLT,REDOING GAS PORT,RIFLE IS AWESOME-HEAVY BUT RUNS GREAT.ALSO HIT STEEL PLATE AT 100 YARDS.THIS INFO WAS ADDED FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW WHO ASSUMED THAT THIS WAS A " POS" FROM THE ORIGINAL BUILDER, AND WOULD NOT ASK ME. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT IT IS NOT.ALSO , THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO SLAM THE ORIGINAL BUILDER AS HE DID OFFER ME MY MONEY BACK.
GALIL ARM BUILT ON A RAPID FIRE RECIVER IN 7.62 X 39 USING STANDARD AK47 MAGAZINES. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RECEIVER, BARREL AND CARRY HANDLE ASSEMBLY,ALL PARTS ARE ORIGINAL IMI INCLUDING 308 NOS BOLT,FIRE CONTROL ASSEMBLY,BIPOD.RIFLE COMES WITH 1 - 30 RD MAGAZINE,WHICH IT RAN FLAWLESS IN 100 RDS OF TESTING.ANY QUESTIONS, [redacted]. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. $150 SHIPPED INSURED TO YOUR FFL FROM NONFFL,TO LOWER 48 USA.I OFFER A LAYAWAY PLAN.USPS MONEY OREDER OR CERTIFIED BANK CHECK.FOR SALE LOCALLY ALSO.”

There's a lot to unpack here. The seller states that it can hit a steel plate at 100 yards. How large is that plate? No idea. How often can that plate be hit? Also no idea. Why is the description in all caps? Again, no idea. But if you are willing to pony up the $3,500 starting bid, you could find out for yourself just how accurate it is.

Back in the era of cheap steel case ammo, chambering a Galil in 7.62x39 could have saved some money. But now that there is price parity between 5.56/.223 and 7.62x39, the value proposition is a little more suspect. Still though, for a real AK nerd who already has one of everything, this is a highly unique gun.

Delusional price tag, but at least they're honest about it being a POS build.

Definitely over priced. Not enough information to judge condition, but hitting a plate at 100 yards is no indicator of any serious accuracy.
