TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #121: Ryan from Silencer Central
Silencers have been the talk of the NFA town for the last couple of months. This is largely due to the massive wait times we saw before seemingly disappearing overnight leaving most of us with much more manageable e-form 4 processing times of about a week or less. This has sent ripples through the suppressor and firearm world leading to a bum-rush on all sorts of muzzle devices and suppressor manufacturers desperately trying to keep up with the increased demand that this rare NFA win has given the gun community. We’ve brought on Silencer Central CEO Brandon Maddox in the past to talk shop with Pete, but this time we’re bringing on Ryan H with Sielcner Central to talk about what he’s seen behind the scenes when it comes to selling suppressors in this new era. Today we’ll talk about all things silencers, how easy it is now to complete the process, and also talk a bit about Silencer Central’s own line of suppressors in the Banish series.

This is one of those combinations that captures the pure summer fun of plinking or target shooting. Let’s take a look.

Silencer Shop: The Beginner's Guide To Silencers (aka Suppressors)
About a decade ago I discovered a ‘cheat code’ for my love of shooting firearms – silencers. With the right suppressor, the right host (gun), and the right ammunition, the enjoyment of shooting is elevated to the next level. So, after many years, about 200 silencers, and hundreds of thousands of rounds on target, it wasn’t a surprise that Silencer Shop asked me to share this ‘cheat code’ in the form of a beginner’s guide to silencers. If you are new to the world of quieter shooting, or you could use a refresher on the process, stick around while we discuss the basics of buying, transferring, and using suppressors.

Luke C is at the National Rifle Association’s 153rd Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Texas checking out the new BOE Suppressors booth and their new user-serviceable nested monocore modular suppressor – the BOE Mod-1. The Mod-1 is a modification of their Ultra Compact Suppressor lineup. Like their predecessors, the Mod-1 lineup is rated for magnum hunting calibers like 375 H&H or 338RUM. The Mod-1 lineup has improved thermal dispersion, has thicker wear surfaces and can be configured to fit any aftermarket QD setup with 1.375-24 threads. BOE Model-1 should be available for purchase for around $1,200 around the end of June 2024.
POTD: De Lisle Carbine in 375 Raptor
For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a very cool project by a company called Cotton Branch Custom Firearms. It’s a Lee-Enfield rifle converted to a De Lisle carbine configuration except instead of .45 ACP it is chambered in 375 Raptor. The latter is a .375-caliber short-action cartridge based on the .308 Winchester case.

The GVAC system is a bore evacuator that significantly reduces gas blowback to the shooter’s face, which works well in conjunction with Gemtech’s new reduced back pressure suppressor series.

TFB Review: The Finnish Jaki 22LR Suppressor
Since 1996 Jaki Ltd. of Finland have been manufacturing suppressors. The company was founded by Jussi and Aki Nyyssönen, and they initially began by designing and crafting suppressors for their own personal competitive firearms. With time, almost four decades, the company and the products have evolved. To my knowledge, Jaki’s products cannot be found in the USA, but since TFB stretches on a global level with lots of international readers, it can sometimes be of interest to study various products even if they’re not available.

TFB Review: Griffin Armament A2 Silencer Adapter
Griffin Armament makes a variety of silencers and related accessories. One of the most interesting is their A2 Adapter. It allows any silencer with 1.375×24 rear threads to mount to standard AR flash hiders. I got my hands on one and tried it on several different guns, and thought my experience would be worth sharing.

Good evening everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the brand new YHM 338 Bad Larry Suppressor. Last week we discussed the fast approval times and a few impulse-buy suppressors if you feel like spinning the roulette wheel that is the ATF eForms NFA application process. Due to an ongoing snow/ice/rain storm, we are staying inside today by a warm fire and tackling our NFA administrative and maintenance checklist. I know you need to get caught up as well. Let’s take a look.

TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #109: The Return of Brandon Maddox of Silencer Central
Like last week’s episode, this week’s episode jumps right back into the hot topic of suppressors and this time we’re talking about more than just wishful thinking about getting rid of the NFA, and keeping wait times at a reasonable interval. This week we’ve brought back a favorite guest of ours, CEO Brandon Maddox of Silencer Central, to talk about all things NFA. While Brandon has the same wish as us about getting rid of the NFA, he does have some pretty poignant thoughts about what would happen should the NFA disappear and what that might look like for firearm owners and hunters on a state level. He also goes into depth with Pete about the recent surge of interest in suppressors and how that might be adversely affecting the average quality of suppressors being put out onto the market today.

Stay with me and I’ll explain.
TFB Behind The Gun Podcast #108: Chris with Yankee Hill Machine (YHM)
Suppressors are one of Pete’s favorite subjects and that’s why it’s an honor to finally present one of the best episodes recorded at SHOT Show 2024 featuring Chris with Yankee Hill Machine. Many of you know that ATF Form 4 times has taken a drastic dip in the time it takes them to be processed. A lot of speculation has been posed throughout the last couple of weeks on whether or not this pace can keep up, or if this is just a temporary boost spurred on by the government and or the pressure from the growing civilian suppressor market. Looking back at this episode recorded during the 2024 SHOT Show, it’s interesting to hear what Pete and Chris have to say about the current state of the suppressor market, and where they think it’s going this year.
Modular European Suppressor for the EU Market: The Delisle

This week we take a look at wet work – or shooting with an ablative material – to improve the performance of small suppressors. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of shooting wet.

POTD: The SAI GR-22 & GR-9 Suppressed Rifles
Photo Of The Day – the best online place to view the coolest images of firearms. When I was younger (a lot younger), every boy knew the ArmaLite AR-7 was the good-to-go thing to have if you survived a crash landing, and had to protect yourself against dangerous predators and get food. I guess we never thought about the issues about firearm permits and getting them on board the plane, yes it was a time of few worries. Fast forward to today, and we have the SAI GR-22 & GR-9 rifles made by SAI in Denmark. I think the calibers are kind of self-explanatory – .22LR and 9×19 mm. The suppressor system is integrated with a suppressor casing made of carbon tube (.22LR) or aluminum (9 mm).
POTD: The Noveske 8.125″ 9mm Crye Baby
Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! Today we’re looking at an amazing auction thanks to companies like Noveske, CGS, Irregular Defense, Wilcox and Aimpoint. This is a Noveske 8.125″ 9mm in a custom Flecktarn Cerakote with a CGS Mod 9X Silencer, Irregular Defense OMM Micro Mount and a Irregular Defense Feer Riser. The laser is a Wilcox Raid XE and the red dot is an Aimpoint Comp M5 Red Dot.
