Remington has several new ammunition products for 2025. They range from dedicated lever-action loads to very interesting rimfire concepts. Let's break them down.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and all of its different types of guns, history, shooting sports, and ammo! Last time we took a look at the relatively inexpensive CCI “Green Tag” 40-grain ammo. Billed as a more affordable alternative to genuine match ammo - CCI Green Tag is produced via a hand-picked process where particularly good lots of CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain are separated for their consistency which in turn typically leads to smaller group sizes. As with any rimfire ammo - whether or not one particular lot of ammo is going to group well out of your specific rifle is another matter entirely and probably the reason many of you commented that while the appeal of CCI Green Tag is there, CCI Standard does it better for the price that it is being asked for. I would tend to agree with that assessment of my level of skill and the type of shooting that I do.

Our friends at B&T USA have just announced the release of the SPR86 – an integrally suppressed bolt action rifle chambered in 8.6 Blackout. The SPR86 is the older/bigger sibling to the B&T USA SPR300 Pro chambered in 300BLK (one of my remaining grail guns). Upsizing the 300BLK platform, the 8.6BLK SPR86 launches heavier bullets farther with the same level of extreme accuracy. Since 1996 Jaki Ltd. of Finland have been manufacturing suppressors. The company was founded by Jussi and Aki Nyyssönen, and they initially began by designing and crafting suppressors for their own personal competitive firearms. With time, almost four decades, the company and the products have evolved. To my knowledge, Jaki’s products cannot be found in the USA, but since TFB stretches on a global level with lots of international readers, it can sometimes be of interest to study various products even if they’re not available.

Welcome back to Wheelgun Wednesday, TFB’s weekly article series where we talk about everything revolver-related. Today we take a look at something old, Speer Target-38. These were practice rounds you can use in a revolver chambered in .357 Magnum or .38 Special. I got a chance to check them out years ago so here they are.

Last week we featured one of our very own readers’ homemade firearms. Axel’s dedicated 22LR SVD build was quite impressive, if not a bit finicky in the reliability department. A majority of you expressed interest in having his design picked up and refined by a major manufacturer. While I too, wish something like this would happen, it’s probably not in the realm of possibility. This week we’re taking a look at one of my own tinkering projects I’ve been working with over the last couple of months. This project, which I am calling the B14R SOLUS, is a combination of Bergara’s B14R rimfire trainer barreled action, and Aero Precision’s SOLUS Competition chassis and a smattering of other high-end parts and accessories. Why? Most of the fun I get from rimfire is just cheap shooting and training. Since I had the parts lying around and the capability, I simply wanted to do something in the complete opposite direction of “practical” or even “value-conscious.” The B14R SOLUS is supposed to be overpriced, and overbuilt and today we’ll take a look at all the parts I’ve put into it, as well as what ammunition plays best with this unholy combination of rimfire parts.

James is at TriggrCon 2023 speaking with the guys at Genesis about their 8.6mm PDW, which is ultimately both competition with the Q Boombox, but also a complimentary platform that will make 8.6mm more attractive for potential buyers as more manufacturers start supporting this revolutionary new caliber. Bottom line, this is an insanely powerful, low-recoiling rifle in a package about the same size as an H&K MP5.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! Last week we talked about the full-size 22LR trainer, the Bergara B14R. Bergara’s B14R offering is somewhat of a rare breed of rifle – it’s not exactly handy, or cheap, and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The B14R is a perfect replacement for those looking to train for positional shooting for a PRS match, or for just getting more use out of your expensive Remington 700 chassis system. A far more affordable and handy option is the B14R’s little brother, the Bergara Micro Rimfire (Bergara BMR). The BMR features a lot of the same features that make the B14R great, but in a completely dedicated rimfire system that just happens to use a few key components that make it just adjustable enough for the end user to tweak it to their needs and preferences. Today we’ll check it out and I’ll give you my initial impressions on the micro-sized Bergara BMR.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves interviews the creator of the Honey Badger, Kevin Brittingham of Q, about the new Q Boombox. The Boombox is, more or less, the “big brother” of the Honey Badger. While the Honey Badger uses a 5.56mm sized frame to accommodate .300 Blackout rounds, the Boombox uses the new 8.6mm Blackout, which works in the same size frame as 7.62mm guns like .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. And even though the Boombox has a big caliber and capability jump, it is only a few ounces heavier and a few inches longer than the Honey Badger. See what all the noise is about.

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report. This ongoing series of rimfire-focused articles is about the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, trends, ammunition types, and of course history. Last week fellow TFB writer and gunsmith savant Sam S. took a deep dive into the antiquated 30 Rimfire cartridge. Like many of its other rimfire cousins, 30 Rimfire just didn’t survive the wide acceptance of centerfire cartridges which proved to be superior in virtually every way. This week we’re going to be covering something that caught my attention quite recently. Around the start of the new year the YouTube channel Garand Thumb started a discussion with a guy in the comments of one of his recent videos saying he could consistently hit a soda can at 700 yards with a 22LR. Obviously, a lot of online drama has been drummed up about this and I’m not particularly interested in that portion of it, but rather the actual practicality of the claim. So today we’ll discuss whether or not I think this is possible based on what I know and have experienced with 22LR.

Hornady has already announced some of their products late last year but they are new for 2023. First up is the new Hornady 7mm PRC cartridge offerings. There are at least 30 gun builders chambering rifles for this caliber. Here is the list from their website.

TFB has covered both the Hush Puppy Project and Super Vel ammo in previous SHOT Show posts and reviews. After a recent period of absence, they are back on the scene and were once again showing off their wares at SHOT 2023.

This is a review of the A-TEC PMM-6 suppressor, mostly attached to the Glock 45. A-TEC is a Norwegian company, and it may seem odd for an American-focused firearms blog to review something Americans can’t buy. However TFB has readers all over the world, and A-TEC has a strong position in the European suppressor market. For instance, A-TEC and Heckler & Koch recently entered into cooperation “in the areas of development and sales“, and the outcome will be very interesting.

The goal of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to give your eyes something worth watching and add information to your brain about new, interesting facts from the world of firearms. Over the years we have shown firearms and soldiers from north to south, east to west in almost any imaginable situation and climate. Today we have the Heckler & Koch HK437 in .300 Blackout (7.62x35mm) which H&K calls the “Sneaker”. The rifle is equipped with a VarioRay laser light module from Rheinmetall and an EOTech EXPS.

Today we’re taking a look at the newest factory iteration of Trailblazer Firearms’ LifeCard – this time featuring a factory-threaded barrel. A few weeks ago at Triggrcon 2022, James Reeves and I had a chance to shoot this new threaded LifeCard and while it was impressive enough on the range, it was kind of hard to hear just how effectively this particular handgun was as a suppressor host. Today we’ll be taking a look at the new life card to see what has changed about it compared to the standard Life Card, and also see what kind of rimfire mischief we can get into with this neat little firearm.

I’m all for optimizing setups including my 22LR rifles and pistols and this often means borrowing other parts and accessories from some of my more expensive rigs. However, one thing I try my best not to borrow from is the suppressors for my centerfire guns. Suppressing firearms chambered in 22LR seems like it might be a dead simple task but if you’re trying to optimize your setup then there are a few basic rules you can follow to keep costs down, maintenance intervals low, and have your auto-loading guns running smoothly. Norma designs some great ammunition manufacturing millions upon millions of cartridges for both the US and European markets. The company’s latest offering is their new TAC-22 Subsonic 40-grain ammunition featuring a lead round nose hollow point bullet and an advertised muzzle velocity of 1,017 feet per second keeping the rounds well under the range of supersonic making them much more pleasant to shoot, with or without a suppressor.

The venerated MP5 design is one that has lasted well beyond its practical use and into the modern age. The MP5 has made itself a comfy home in the minds of American gun owners due to a combination of real-world and fictional portrayals in the hands of operators and action heroes alike. The MP5 is simply a near-ubiquitous design when it comes to the term SMG or submachine gun. However, the trouble with MP5s, especially in the Heckler & Koch manufacture, is they are really hard to get a hold of and on top of that, they’re also insanely expensive. There are a few other great options out there if you’re unwilling to pay two and a half racks for that roller-delayed goodness and today we’re taking a look at one of the more affordable options in the MP5 scene with POF’s (Pakistan Ordnance Factories) SMG MP5 otherwise known as the POF-5. These Pakistan-produced and Arkansas-imported firearms come in at a competitive price, and really have great performance to match if you’re looking to scratch that MP5 itch and don’t really care about the roll mark.

Reloading is one of those hobbies I never thought I’d actually pick up – even as a firearms owner. However, all it took for me to get addicted to the benchtop hobby was for a good friend of mine to send me a very inexpensive Lee Challenger reloading press kit and from there, the rest was history. Reloading can seem intimidating for the uninitiated, I know I was quite intimidated during my first range trip with my first box of reloaded ammunition, however, 10 years down the road, I’ve not only gained a solid grasp on the concept, but I’ve also dipped into new rabbit holes of information I once again never thought I’d find myself in. Suffice it to say reloading is just as rewarding as it is educational and I personally think that more firearms owners should have at least a basic grasp of the concept. I think these sentiments are shared by our guest today, Gavin, a.k.a the Ultimate Reloader. Gavin runs a YouTube channel and website that specializes in all things reloading, as well as some great informative precision rifle content that has really been a valuable resource to me as a reloader over the years. I’m honored today to have him on the podcast with us to give you guys a bird’s eye view of handloading/reloading so that you can determine for yourself whether or not you’d like to pick it up either as a hobby or as a means to shoot more without vastly increasing the cost of ammunition.
