On the other hand, severely devalued currency makes for competitive exports.

@PoormettoStateArmory Maybe the masses of companies currently churning out garbage shotguns…..the big 4 (Tisas, Canik, Girsan and Sarsilmaz) have been putting out consistently high quality pistols at excellent pricepoints.

@PoormettoStateArmory That is the plague affecting their industry, frankly. Stoeger inertia and pump shotguns are pretty much the only thing I have yet witnessed to actually work as advertised, 3 inch shells and all. Not saying there ain't other good manufacturers, I just ain't aware of them.

Pistols are OK. Caniks are basically reskinned Walter P99. Not sure if Tisas is just Sarsilmaz in another name, but their new striker fired pistols are fine too. ATA Turqua rifles are good enough that Savage imports them under their Stevens label.

There's just something so fundamentally wrong with shotguns over there. Low pressure + high recoil lures manufacturers into a false sense of security. And when things break, it's usually some small pins getting dislodged, jamming some tube magazine related stuff, which then freezes the entire pump action or bolt carrier assembly.

@john huscio Well yes there are good Turkish manufacturers like MKE and Sarslimaz, however there are many more newer and smaller companies that put out consistent crap. Especially with shotguns, which confuses me as the Turkish have proven to make decent for the money handguns and rifles but you can hardly find a good Turkish shotgun.

@PoormettoStateArmory I agree wholeheartedly here. Pistols and rifles, mostly fine if you use a modicum of common sense. Most shotguns are polished turds that falls apart within the first dozen 3 inch shells. Stoeger pumps and autoloaders are the ones I know work well.

@Uncle Yar I mean maybe you could argue the Winchester SXP line isnt that bad and some of Mossberg Internationals imports aren’t either, but there are so many more craptacular Turkish shotguns that look like they where made 5 minutes before the end of the shift.

@Uncle Yar I’ve handled the AQA Turqua (Steven’s 334) and I was impressed by how decent it was for the money. It was no Tikka or Bergara, but it seemed less rough than a Savage Axis. For the money I would say it was decent enough for most beginner hunters. This proves that the Turkish can make a good gun if they want to, but with shotguns they just make as many as possible for a quick buck.

@Uncle Yar Which is hilarious when you consider that Stoeger doesn't bother to build their break-action lines in Turkey, but instead in Brazil by E.R. Amentino, resulting in Stoeger break-actions being considerably worse quality than their Turkish shotguns.

@Uncle Yar Tbf, is it the manufacturer, or the retailer who wants a price point met responsible for the shotgun quality?

@Brettbaker You raise a great point there. I just know Black Aces Series S autoloader weren't bottom of the barrel cheap, but the pins still walked out and jammed the guns when James burnt it down with 3 inch shells.

Whether it's a mid priced gun or a overly marked up cheap trash, I wouldn't know. Black Aces know.
