We have a new year inbound shortly so we all know what that means… the avalanche of new firearm announcements is upon us! Savage Arms has some new models, or variants of current models, to brag about in their A22 Takedown and the Model 64. Both will be getting some new drip if you want some more attractive colors for your rimfire rifles.

The Savage Arms A22 Takedown is a “sleeper” when it comes to a high-quality rimfire rifle at an affordable cost. You get a takedown model that can easily be stored in a backpack, you can also hide additional magazines inside the stock, it is threaded for silencers, and comes with a modern Picatinny rail for optics. All accouterments that a modern shooter desires.

Westfield, Massachusetts – December, 2023 – Savage Arms announces new additions to its popular and extensive rimfire line that include a new A22 Takedown in FDE and several new color options in the Model 64. All line extensions are now shipping.

“No other rimfire rifles bring the versatility and flexibility of the A22 Takedown,” said Beth Shimanski, Director of Marketing at Savage Arms. “Weighing in at only six pounds and available in 22LR, this rifle has been very popular and the FDE option should help continue that momentum. Similarly, the Model 64 is a staple for small game hunters and plinkers. We’re happy to offer six new color options in this accurate and fun semi-auto.”

The A22 still suffers from a bad design feature of needing to remove the scope if you decide to clean the gun.
The access to the rear stock screw has to be approached from the top down rather than from the bottom up of the stock.

@Beaner49 The 64 is even worse. Assuming you want to do anything more in depth than drop a bore snake through, you need to take out 2 hex screws and a flat head screw to remove the stock, 2 more hex screws to remove the magazine well, and 3 Philips head screws to get the trigger and bolt out of the receiver.

I'd really like to see them offer a takedown stick similar to the Magpul backpacker. It would be very handy to be able to keep the halves locked together. Also, takedown versions of the .22 magnum model would be very much appreciated.
