According to a communication from Heckler & Koch Germany, the company has entered an “extensive cooperation in the areas of development and sales” together with the Norwegian specialist in suppressors A-TEC. Heckler & Koch may not need another introduction on TFB, but for those who don’t know A-TEC, they are a Norwegian manufacturer of suppressors for hunters, sport shooters as well as law enforcement and military customers.

One reason why there are many companies making suppressors in the Nordic region may be because the area is very liberal in terms of legislation in Norway and Finland. In July 2022 Sweden are to make Sound Suppressors license-free.

Here is the press release from Heckler & Koch in full:

The handgun manufacturer and system provider Heckler & Koch and the Norwegian silencer specialist A-TEC have decided on May 16th, 2022, in Oberndorf to enter an extensively cooperation in the areas of development and sales.

“A-TEC is a highly innovative manufacturer of silencers for short and long guns, which has the same quality standards as Heckler & Koch and at the same time serves an identical target group. H&K and A-TEC have worked together on some projects for a while now and have decided to lift the relationship to the next level with this agreement”, explains Anders E. Johan-sen, COB and founder of A-TEC.

“Through this cooperation, we are able to supply police officers and soldiers with a system that optimally matches his needs. We are very much looking forward to working with the most important handgun manufacturer in the EU and NATO and are convinced that we can provide our customers with visible added value,” confirms Hallvard Winterseth, CEO of A-TEC.

Dr. Jens Bodo Koch, CEO of Heckler & Koch GmbH explains: “We are very pleased to have found a cooperation partner in A-TEC who not only meets the high-quality level demanded by Heckler & Koch, but also lives for his products. In addition, there is promising synergy potential. Heckler & Koch is a system provider of small arms for security agencies and armed forces of EU, NATO, and NATO-equivalent countries. Through the cooperation with A-TEC, we are strengthening our product portfolio for the benefit of our customers.

Marco Geißinger Vice President Sales & Marketing of Heckler & Koch GmbH emphasizes “Joint developments and a common qualification process of both companies ensure that our customers can rely on highly reliable weapon-silencer systems”.

The adoption of the M5 alongside the Bundeswehr not adopting it might have killed the 433 entirely. I'd say any nation that was considering adopting a new 5.56 service rifle will be holding off for the next few years to see what the US will do with the M5 and 6.8 in general.

That and Germany is a terrible country to buy arms from for your military. The last thing you want is to get military hardware from a country that may cut you off entirely from replacements the moment you end up in an actual war.
