The New Razor556 from Rugged Suppressors

@HemingwaysBeard In fairness Rugged's taper mount is done right and has been around a long time. Durability/concentricity is really the only reason not to go with HUB threads though.

@HemingwaysBeard It isn't highlighted but I noticed from the picture it looks like it is using Rugged's ME shorter, lightweight brake... Which up until now was only in 5/8x24 for the 7.62 guns, but in checking specs this does come with a 1/2x28 M2. You can't buy that brake alone.

Other than use as a dedicated 5.56 I would probably opt for the micro30 over this, same length in long config, only slightly heavier long, but can go shorter and use with 7.62 and 5.56. I like their muzzle devices, I do wish they would support the "industry standard" end threading, they could sell more suppressors to those who don't want a brake from them and I would like an adapter using their brake that I could use with other brands like YHM or SiCo (Omega 9K on a Rugged brake for blackout?)

@HemingwaysBeard Rugged's QD system is bomb proof, doesn't get stuck, and not heavy at all. There are other lightweight QD systems out there--not all QDs are the neutron star that is keymo.

@HerfNDerf What modern QD Systems aren’t “bomb proof” nowadays? YHM, Q, Dead Air Xeno, Surefire, Sig?

And why force consumers to only use Rugged’s QD system?

We’re essentially in the early era of cell phones when each company required its own unique charging cable.

@HemingwaysBeard SiCo ASR, Surefire's and DD's QD system come to mind as less than bombproof. 1.375x24 internal threading is not a perfect solution, though it does seem here to stay.

All suppressors are a collection of tradeoffs. Rugged's mount is proprietary. That said, Rugged's QD system makes mounting idiot proof, removal idiot proof, it absolutely will not go anywhere once mounted, and it does not get carbon locked. I don't need to worry about the internal adapter unthreading, missing some detail and launching my very expensive muffler downrange, the thing getting stuck, or some other point of failure that ruins my day. I also like Rugged's muzzle devices and they are very affordable.

As I use these suppressors between several high volume rifles, those aspects of Rugged's mounting system are more important to me than mount modularity. If those are not your needs, then by all means, buy something else. It is hard to find a truly bad suppressor on today's market: there are plenty of great options.
