The New Mimic Speed9 - 60 Round Submachine Gun

Every now and then, we get to experience new ideas in the firearms industry, and I think this is one of those moments. Introducing the Mimic Speed9, with a patent pending 60-round, double direction 9x19mm magazine designed with the same dimensions as a standard AR-15 magazine, allowing it to fit familiar platforms and standard mag pouches.

There is also a new and patent-pending last-round bolt hold-open feature that ensures that the bolt locks back every time after the final round. The Mimic9 also has a proprietary bolt carrier, upper and lower receivers, bolt catch, and magazine catch designed specifically for the system.
The Mimic Speed9 is the next evolution of the sub-machine gun. This revolutionary new platform blends the reliability and versatility of the AR platform with an all-new efficient capacity solution featuring an AR-15 dimensioned magazine holding 60rds of 9mm ammunition.
As we’ve become used to, the design is modular and the gun is compatible with standard AR-15 parts, including triggers, buffer systems, barrels, handguards, furniture, pins, and detents. The Mimic9 uses a direct blowback system.
Did all this catch your interest? The production tooling is currently in progress, with the semi-automatic Speed9 Foundation Series expected to launch in Q1 2026.
The estimated price range is said to be in the region of $1700 – $2000, accessories not included․
It’s difficult to explain the system in detail, but there are plenty of videos on https://mimicfirearms.com/

Please note that the photos represent a prototype firearm and that production components will be of a higher finished standard, according to Mimic Firearms.

Is it really a "60 round magazine" if it doesn't actually feed all 60 rounds? This is just conjoined twin 30 rounders.
The video shows the magazine must be pulled, reversed and reinserted. A double mag rig would accomplish the same thing. Actually quicker since it doesn’t require reversal. Yawn.
