POTD: From Polish Service to U.S. Shores - The FB Radom VIS-100 M1

Today’s Photo Of The Day takes a closer look at the Fabryka Broni VIS-100 M1, a Polish-made 9mm pistol derived from the service sidearm currently issued to the Polish Armed Forces and police units. Imported to the U.S. in a civilian-legal configuration, the VIS-100 M1 blends modern duty features with traditional double-action/single-action operation. Somehow, I think the pistol caught on to some untraditional colors as it was exported.

FB Radom VIS 100 M1 Magazines & Spare Parts Kits Are Now Available

Last year, the Polish FB Radom VIS 100 M1 pistol made its debut in the United States thanks to Arms of America working with FB Radom to import it for the U.S. market. VIS 100 M1 pistols are still for sale at Arms of America and Atlantic Firearms, but they also recently added spare VIS 100 M1 magazines and parts kits. Spare 10-round magazines have been available during the earlier batches of importation, however, 15-round and 17-round magazines are now available on both dealers’ websites.

TFB Review: FB Radom's VIS 100 M1 Pistol – The Polish Military Sidearm

The Polish VIS 100 M1 pistol from Fabrika Broni is an upgraded variant of the pistol that is currently issued to the Polish Armed Forces, the VIS 100 (no “M1”) while the primary advantage of the civilian M1 version provides an optics-ready capability. The history of the VIS 100 M1 can be traced back to the early 1990s when Poland began looking inward for the production of a pistol for the armed forces. This search saw a couple different designs, the MAG 95 and the WIST-94, the latter of which was adopted in 1999. The MAG pistol was updated in 1998, and again in 2008. In 2018, the evolution of the MAG design, the VIS 100, started being issued to the Polish Armed Forces, replacing the WIST-94. The VIS 100 M1 is imported and sold by Arms of America, and is also available through Atlantic Firearms, who graciously provided the review sample you see here.

The FB Radom VIS 100 M1 Pistol Is Finally For Sale In The U.S.

Two years ago, we reported that the Polish FB Radom VIS 100 M1 pistol had begun its red tape process of being imported into the United States. After a longer than expected journey, the VIS 100 M1 pistols finally arrived and are available through Arms of America, and Atlantic Firearms. For those that haven’t been following this pistol, the VIS 100 M1 is an optics-ready, fully ambidextrous, metal framed, double action/single action pistol, that’s an evolution beyond the Polish Army’s VIS 100 (no “M1”, previously known as the PR-15 or Ragun). Atlantic Firearm’s description and specs can be found below.

[SHOT 2022] Polish FB Radom VIS-100 M1 9mm Pistol

FB Radom had a variety of firearms displayed at their SHOT Show 2022 booth. One of the most anticipated guns of this Polish company in the US market is probably the MSBS GROT family of rifles. Unfortunately, the company could not tell any details concerning the importation of these rifles. What they do start importing to the USA is the VIS-100 M1 pistol which will soon be available via Arms Of America. This is the civilian version of the VIS-100 pistol (formerly known as PR-15) adopted by the Polish military.

The Polish VIS 100 M1 (Ragun, PR-15) Pistol Is Coming To America

FB Radom’s newest military sidearm has gone by several names, such as “Ragun”, “PR-15” and most recently, upon it’s official adoption by the Polish armed forces, the “VIS 100”. Followers of the development of this double action/single action (DA/SA) pistol have been hopeful that it would be imported into the U.S. at some point. Well, there seems to be some recent evidence that an importation deal is in the works. It also appears that the civilian version will have a few extra upgrades over its military issued version.
