POTD: Finnish Flak! The ItPsv90 Leopard 2 Marksman
Photo Of The Day: When I was a kid, the German Flakpanzer Gepard was my all-time favourite tank. Finland has a similar take on the concept. They moved their existing Marksman turrets, a British short-range air defense system, from old T-55AM chassis to new Leopard 2 chassis. The main armament of ItPsv90 is two 35 mm Oerlikon autocannons holding 440 rounds of fragmentation and 40 anti-tank rounds. The Leopard is powered by a V-12 diesel engine with 620 hp and probably more torque than we can count.
7.62mm Advanced Armor Piercing Bullet Unveiled by Stiletto Systems
In an era of increasingly resilient body armor, new small arms ammunition solutions are required to even the odds between the shooter and shootee. The company Stiletto Systems, based out of the UK, is advertising its new bullet as a possible solution for this problem. The round, a relatively conventional 7.62mm tungsten cored armor piercing projectile superficially similar to Nammo’s M993 round, is advertised as having considerable penetrative power: 20.5 mm of rolled homogeneous armor at 100 meters, 100% of the time.
Skyshield SHORAD – Like NORAD Only More Flak!
If and when the machine overlords decide to take over the planet, the Skyshield will likely be their air defense weapon of choice. The Skyshield, a modular and potentially mobile air defense system, has been developed by Switzerland’s Oerlikon Contraves Air Defense, to protect critical assets. The SHORAD system, or SHOrt Range Air Defense system is a combination of sensor nodes and weapons emplacements.

How much firepower can you hold in your hands? Quite a lot, according to Kiev-based Precision Systems, who has developed a handheld automatic 30mm grenade launcher capable of dispensing five 30x29mm grenades quickly when used by just a single individual. News of this assault-rifle-sized automatic grenade gun was first published in the Anglosphere by ISH Jane’s:
