In this episode of TFBTV’s #NRAAM2019 coverage, James meets with representatives from boutique uber-manufacturer, Nighthawk, to looks at the newest member of the Nighthawk 1911 lineup – the Nighthawk Firehawk 1911. James and Nighthawk also look at Nighthawk’s new means of attaching a red dot optic to the slides of Nighthawk’s 1911 modelss.

With the exponential growth and desire for handgun shooters to use red dot optics, more and more firearm manufacturers are offering catalog models with that ability readily available. Most of the time though it is only specific models offered by a gun maker that consumers would have to settle for. Nighthawk Custom is taking the yearning for red dots and upgrading your pistol one step further than the rest. They now offer an upgrade service to most of their New 1911 pistols where an Interchangeable Optic System (IOS) can be installed.

Does the World need another Ballistics App?

If you research traditional night vision devices online, you typically walk away with the impression that unless you spend upwards of $2,000, you are wasting your time and money. The problem with this theory is that, for currency-challenged people like myself, high-priced imaging devices are basically out of reach. This past March I bought the Ballistic app for my iPad and played a little with it. A number of you readers jumped in with comments, and the general consensus is that the app was great, but the interface was complicated and documentation was sparse.

Okay I’ll be the first to admit I like gadgets.  The more techie the better.  I’ve been considering buying a FLIR One for a while now, but once I upgraded to my iPhone 6 I was out of luck (they are supposed to have one upcoming).
