EOTECH has announced the HWS CUAS (Counter Unmanned Aircraft Sight), a new holographic weapon sight purpose-built for rapid engagement of both stationary and moving unmanned aircraft. The platform arrives as small, low-cost drones proliferate globally and present documented threats to military installations, personnel, and critical infrastructure. Available in two configurations, EXPS3 and XPS3, the CUAS features a sophisticated aiming reticle designed specifically around drone engagement geometry.

Last week I posted part one of EOTech’s factory tour. In part two we will take a look behind the curtain at how EOTech’s Holographic Weapon Sights (HWS) are manufactured. After the factory tour we were taken out to a local range to test some of their products.

For the first time ever, EOTech opened its factory doors in Ann Arbor Michigan to the media. We were invited to attend this unprecedented event and got to learn what made EOTech one of the top optic companies used by US Military and see how they make their flag ship Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS) as well as what changes they made since the Thermal Drift issue.

Eotech introduced the first focal plane Vudu scopes at last year’s SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range, this year they followed it up with a more affordable second focal plane line in several different models. They also have reintroduced the holo weapon sight as well as rebranded with a brand new logo.

L-3 Communication’s EOTech division is currently going through the PR ringer for the thermal drift found in their (previously) phenomenally popular Holographic Weapon Systems. According to an e-mail obtained by Soldier Systems, EOTech is starting its line-up changes for 2015. Two new sights have been announced, the 518 and 558, both of which use AA batteries. Both sights include the Q/D mounts common to the EXPS line.
