Beretta has announced the release of what I would call the logical next step for the 92 series of pistols – the Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic pistol. This new addition to the 92X Performance family will still share the same steel Vertec Frame, Xtreme-S adjustable trigger, and of course its signature polymer carrying case. The new 92X Performance Carry Optic slide, however, will make use of Toni System Optic plates that will allow the end user to use most of the popular pistol red dot optics on the market today. Hello and welcome to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all bout the rimfire firearm world and its many facts, curiosities, firearms, and of course, its rich history! 22LR is what I would consider a global cartridge. As opposed to some cartridges that have only seen widespread adoption in specific regions of the world, 22LR is almost universally used in every country regardless of its specific firearms culture. One such firearm that is often forgotten by most of the world that is chambered in 22LR is one that actually has deep roots in the target and competition shooting scene – the MCM-K “Margo” 22LR pistol designed by Mikhail Margolin in the years following WWII. What’s interesting about the Margo pistol and Mr. Margolin is that despite their relative obscurity within the broader firearms world, both the Margolin MCM and its designer helped inspire future generations of competitive pistol shooters across the world. Today we’ll be taking a look at both the Margolin MCM and Mikhail Margolin to get a closer look at their tale.

Strike Industries is proud to introduce their latest offering for Glock pistols, the EMP or Extended Magazine Plate for the Glock 17 and Glock 22 pistols. This week we’re coming back to one of my favorite 22LR pistols of all time – the Ruger MKIV 22/45 Lite. The Ruger MKIV 22/45 Lite is a polymer-framed 22LR pistol that is fairly inexpensive and is well renowned for its out-of-the-box simplicity as well as its reliability and accuracy. Most of you who frequent The Rimfire Report will know that I frequently participate in Steel Challenge competitions using my MKIV pistol in a more or less stock configuration. Recently, the good folks over at Tandemkross reached out to me and offered to send out a couple of upgrades for the MKIV to really see what the platform is capable of when upgraded. So today we’ll be taking a look at the TANDEMKROSS Kraken grip frame as well as nearly all of the other upgrades that are offered by Tandemkross to see where nearly $1,000 worth of upgrades will get you.

Two days, two guns, and too many burpees. In the past few years, tactical competitions have exploded. More specifically, The Tactical Games has grown from a small, invite-only event to a national schedule of events that draws in major sponsors like Magpul, Firearms Legal Protection, and Staccato. STI (Strayer-Tripp Inc.) Firearms was founded in 1980 and designs modular, high-capacity 1911 frames aimed mostly at competition shooters. Today, the company has announced that its official name will be changing to Staccato.

At SHOT Show 2020 I had the opportunity to get my hands on a fairly rare pistol from Beretta – the 92X Performance. The Beretta  92X Performance is designed to be a competitor’s pistol. Every detail that could be streamlined for the competitor has been updated from the base design of the Beretta 92 in order to accommodate the modern competitive shooter.
