The Rimfire Report: The Ranger Model 103-8 – A Blast From The Past
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of competitions, shooting sports, ammunition, and firearms! Last week we checked out the tiny Italian Chiappa Little Badger 22LR survival rifle. Despite its intended use as a survival rifle or pack rifle, I’ve found it incredibly fun to plink with and I think I can safely reaffirm my statement from the article that it’s definitely suitable as a small game hunting rifle in a pinch, although it could for sure use some better metrics in the accuracy department. This week’s subject is something we’ve never actually run into before on The Rimfire Report, a rifle without a serial number. This week we’re going to dive into the curious case of the Ranger Model 103-8 .22 caliber single-shot rifle. This blast from the past has an interesting story behind its short lifespan and despite its age, still has a lot to offer to those who might own one!
The Rimfire Report: The Antique $5 Mossberg Brownie Pocket Pistol
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its guns, shooting sports, ammunition, and history. Last week we took a look at the latest offering in the Federal Premium Punch series in 22 WMR. More rimfire ammunition testing should be underway along with more gel tests in other non-rimfire calibers thanks to the guys over at Clear Ballistics who have generously provided me with the materials needed to get consistent and clear ballistic gelatin tests done. Feel free to check out Clear Ballistics if you’re interested in trying out some gel testing of your own! This week on The Rimfire Report we’re jumping back in history to 1920 when the first Mossberg Brownie pistols were coming off the line. Never heard of it? Great! Today we’ll be going over what the Brownie was, what it was meant for, and what a potential collector can expect to pay for one in the current market.

While rimfire has been mostly relegated to pest control and target shooting in modern times, rimfire ammunition has served in militaries across the world and was once the standard for repeating arms across all walks of life. So let’s take a look at some of the most iconic and important rimfire ammunition throughout history.
The Rimfire Report: PG22 Maverick 22 Short 3D Printed Revolver

Ross Peters is the designer of the PG22 Maverick 22 Short revolver. The PLA printed revolver has an interesting design and today we’ll be taking a look at this home brewed 22 short pepperbox style revolver.
Remington 552 Speedmaster | .22LR, .22 Long, and .22 Short All In One Gun
The Remington 552 Speedmaster offered shooters a semi-auto rimfire rifle that was capable of cycling three types of ammunition depending on the needs of the shooter. At the time it was introduced, the .22 short was the most economical means of target shooting and was far more prevalent than its bigger brothers. Check out this often overlooked rimfire in this episode of TFBTV.
