Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Gets More and Longer Barrels

Springfield Armory has been producing more and more bolt-action rifle offerings, which came as a surprise a few years ago since they were traditionally known for being a semi-auto rifle brand (M1A, AR-15, AR-10, etc). Now, between their Waypoint, Boundary, Redline, and Heatseeker they have quite the portfolio of accurate bolt-action rifles. Today, that family grows even more expansive as Springfield announced longer barrel lengths in their Model 2020 Heatseeker.

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker Rifles

All of the current and newly announced Model 2020 Heatseeker offerings have an MSRP of $2,355 with an accuracy guarantee of 0.75 MOA at 100 yards when shooting quality, match ammunition or handloads.

The newest offerings are an additional 20” rifle in 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) as well as both a 20” and 22” selection for all of the 6.5 Creedmoor loyalists. For anyone who is familiar with the Model 2020 Heatseeker, all of the favorable features remain the same with simply more barrel length options to choose from. The Model 2020 Heatseeker — originally launched earlier this year with a 16” barrel — is a chassis-based rifle crafted for shooters who demand bolt-action precision and AR-style modularity in one uncompromising, suppressor-ready platform.

Featuring a rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish, the bolt-action rifles are available in .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoor (CM). The .308 Win. version is a 20” model, while the 6.5 CM versions are offered in either 20” or 22” models.”

Final Thoughts

I have been fortunate enough to shoot the Waypoint, Boundary, and Heatseeker in various models and that 0.75 MOA accuracy guarantee is no joke. Shooting boxed ammunition, I often achieve groups from 0.3 MOA to 0.8 MOA (depending on what my caffeine consumption is on a given day). So, seeing these longer barrel lengths is not only exciting, but should also only add to your potential for greater accuracy.
