[SHOT 2025] Henry Goes Lightweight With Carbon-Fiber Barrels

Lever-actions are still going through a massive resurgence in popularity. For evidence, look no further than the Henry Repeating Arms booth at SHOT Show’s range day, where they were displaying a next-generation rifle based off their existing lever-action, but with a carbon-fiber barrel.

Henry lever-actions @ TFB:

Space-age cowboy gun

From 50 yards away, you might not notice this new carbon-fiber Henry is a space cowboy firearm. You can see it has modern-style furniture up front, but that buttstock is built along classic lines, and it’s even made of wood (laminated wood, but wood nevertheless).

Get up close, though, and you see the barrel is carbon fiber wrapped around a steel liner, with an aluminum handguard that has slots cut in for ventilation. The barrel ends with a threaded muzzle for attachment of accessories, including suppressors, which is an increasingly popular option on lever guns, since they don’t have the same issues operating with a can that semi-autos do. The pitch of the muzzle threads depends on which caliber you buy the new rifle in.

Speaking of which: For now, Henry is only offering this carbon-fiber construction in its tube mag lineup; think pistol-caliber carbines (.357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .45 Long Colt) or old-fashioned deer-busting calibers (.30-30 Winchester, .45-70 Government). Henry’s staff said there is no current plan to also offer their carbon-fiber option in the short-barrel, short-stock mare’s leg configuration, but seeing as those pistols are based on the same general action and layout as Henry’s tube-fed rifles, it could be easily done.

Henry says the new carbon-fiber rifles benefit from more barrel rigidity but also singled out shooters with suppressors as particularly benefiting from the new rifles’ light weight. They said the new rifles are about two months out from showroom shelves, and they did not know the MSRP. We’ll share that with you when we know more.

Make the Henry Supreme in 300 BLK with a 16 inch carbon fiber barrel and Mlok handguard. That is my ultimate lever action rifle.
