POTD: GIGN FSP Demonstrates Ukraine-Tested Diplomatic Extraction
The GIGN's Force Sécurité Protection brought Ukraine to Eurosatory 2026, staging a scenario rooted in hard operational reality. Since February 2022, the FSP has deployed repeatedly into contested territory, evacuating diplomats threatened by active fighting across front lines and missile strikes.
The Eurosatory demonstration depicted exactly that: the extraction of a wounded diplomat under fire during a bombing raid, with operators themselves returning fire.
The scenario showcased coordinated lethal overwatch, assault breaching, combat casualty care including IV placement, IED neutralization, and anti-drone jamming.
Toyota Land Cruisers and tactical vehicles moved through dust and pyrotechnics, most weapons suppressed for operational signature control.
The FSP's toolkit spans direct action, medical intervention, and engineer support, a polyvalent approach forged in active theaters.
Drawn from one of the world's most respected close protection forces, these 40 operators operate in the planet's most dangerous countries. Looks like a busy day at work, even if it’s just for show this time.
