Mossberg is expanding its double-barrel shotgun lineup—this time, they’re aiming at the home defense market. The new Mossberg Silver Reserve Eventide HS12 is a cut-down over-under that will serve multiple purposes but make no make mistake. This shotgun was built primarily for the home security market.

Designed in 1898 by John Moses Browning and later modernized and revived in 2014, the Browning A5 shotgun doesn’t just have a solid reputation for being a great waterfowl and upload game hunting gun, but also a rich history as a sport shooting and combat weapon during its early days. I recently had the chance to review a new-production Browning A5 shotgun that had been fitted with XS Sights’ aftermarket photoluminescent vent rib sights. In stark opposition to XS Sights’ tritium-powered night sights, their photoluminescent sights provide end-users with a more cost-effective low-light option that still provides a boost to sight visibility, without the unnecessary ultra low-light capabilities (I don’t think anyone is waterfowl hunting in the dark). Today we’ll talk a bit about the Browning A5 shotgun, how it’s evolved over the years, and also see what the XS Sights Universal Standard Dot Shotgun Vent Rib does to improve the legendary Browning A5 semi-automatic shotgun.

Who is interested in new options for shotguns for IPSC and 3-Gun competitions? Breda America, a brand under Banshee Brands LLC, has just unveiled their latest models for competitive shooters worldwide: the Breda B12i/T4 and B12i/T4 X Competition Grade shotguns. These firearms are engineered to enhance performance in 3-gun competitions, with features like ambidextrous charging handles and easy-to-use controls. If you want to play, the MSRP starts from $1,899.

James Reeves is at IWA and Enforce Tac 2024 to talk to the guys from ReShell about their product, a compressed air, reusable shotgun training round kit. Load reusable training rounds with paintballs, 3D-printed projectiles, M&Ms, whatever. Check the video for details.

James Reeves is with the guys from Genesis to talk about their new less lethal shotgun, the Genesis Arms GEN-12 LL. It’s a less lethal shotgun designed with law enforcement use in mind. It features a semi-auto, Mil-Spec AR trigger with AR controls and ergonomics, a 10.5” smoothbore barrel, and a high-visibility orange color for differentiation. The shotgun is designed to fire bean bag less lethal munitions and includes a 5-round magazine and soft case. It’s made with a 6061 aluminum upper, lower, and handguard, and has a delayed blowback mechanism.

Weatherby just took its shotgun line forward, announcing the SORIX line of semi-autos in 12 gauge and 20 gauge. The new shotguns are inertia-operated; watch the video below, and when the action is disassembled, the internals look similar to other inertia designs. However, the SORIX action has one big trick up its sleeve. It’s an ambidextrous design, sort of.

Want to add an optic to your shotgun, but it’s set up for bird- or clay-busting, with a vent rib? Good news: Warne has a new rib-mounted scope base that allows you to attach a red dot optic to your shotgun’s barrel, for improved wing shooting or even stationary targets.

Genesis has been making big waves in the commercial market with their semi-auto shotguns, but now it has been awarded a federal contract for this, the Genesis MBS or Modern Breaching Shotgun. A short-barrelled, short profile, big performance semi-auto that’s small but easy to use, the MBS is a powerful little package.

James Reeves is at Panzer Arms’ booth at IWA 2024 to look at the shortest mag-fed shotgun he’s seen in a while: The Panzer Arms Super Short SS12. Interestingly, this shotgun has a spring-loaded pump handle that returns the pump to the forward position after it is retracted. It’s also magazine-fed and has a few other tricks up its super short sleeves.

Our Photo Of The Day is strong today. Like 12 gauge strong, and with a great image. Never has a firearm looked so similar to the Heckler & Koch G11 as this suppressed Tavor TS12 shotgun, or did I get that wrong? The market for shotgun suppressors isn’t huge, in fact, it’s quite limited. The one pictured is the SilencerCo Salvo 12, which can be customized to keep a balance between sound, weight, and length by adding or removing sections. The build material is aluminum and stainless steel.

If you are a former swabbie – US Navy man – you might be unsurprised to learn that Remington Ammunition has secured themselves another US Navy Contract to supply them with ammo. This time it is for the AO23 vintage of shotgun shells being a 12 Gauge slug, duty shotgun load: a 2 3/4″, 1 ounce rifled lead slug.

Mossberg has announced updates to its Silver Reserve lineup of over-under shotguns, including a new Waterfowl model, a Turkey model and a synthetic-stocked option.

Mossberg is keen to get shotgunners equipped with red dot sights, and is quickly expanding its lineup of scatterguns with red dot-ready receivers. This includes the Mossberg Pro Waterfowl lineup, including new Snow Goose models.

At the SHOT Show, Turkish manufacturer Armsan presented two new shotguns, each incorporating elements from well-known firearm platforms. The first is the RS23 shotgun, innovatively blending the AK-style action and stock with AR-compatible triggers and grips. This shotgun comes ready for customization with an M-LOK forend and a rail atop the receiver, along with flip-up sights for immediate use. A notable feature is the ease of disassembling: the gas system and barrel are threaded, permitting quick removal without the need for professional gunsmithing. While the manufacturer did not specify the MSRP, it’s worth noting the market already hosts similar models starting at around $275. Prospective buyers can expect to see these on the market by June and will appreciate that retailers have the option to order in any Cerakote color they desire, allowing for a level of personalization.

Tristar has introduced a new collection of over/under shotguns, including the Cypher, Cypher Sporting, and Cypher X models, to its 2024 lineup. The company has also unveiled the Cobra III Super Compact pump-action shotgun alongside its new side-by-side offerings at SHOT this year.

Benelli, an eminent name in the shotgun world, is adapting its Advanced Impact barrel technology to three of its offerings, claiming that re-profiling of the barrel and choke will result in shot speed enhancements and increased down-range shot string tightness.

Panzer Arms has revealed an innovative range of shotgun models at this year’s SHOT Show. The company, acclaimed for its unique and economical firearm designs, is set to make headway into the market with these newly-featured offerings providing affordable choices for firearm enthusiasts.

Grip Plus, a California-based company, has unveiled an innovative adjustable shotgun stock lineup designed to improve ergonomics and minimize recoil, enhancing both the shooting experience and results. The company had the new lineup on display at the SHOT Show 2024.

At SHOT Show 2024, prominent firearms manufacturer Mossberg unveiled two new additions to their shotgun lineup, the 940 Thunder Ranch and 590 Thunder Ranch. Talley Manufacturing, known for its production of state-of-the-art optic equipment, has announced the introduction of its new series of red dot sight mounts designed specifically for shotguns. At SHOT 2024, Kick-Eez showcased new products tailored to the tactical shotgun sector. At SHOT Show 2024, Winchester Arms has introduced two new models to their firearm lineup: the Winchester Ranger, a lever-action rimfire rifle chambered in .22LR, and a new range of SX4 Defender shotguns, designed for the tactical market. Both models carry the Winchester legacy forward with features catering to specific applications in shooting.

We’re back at the Palmetto State Armory booth to check out PSA’s new Modular Shotgun Concept – the PSA 570. The PSA 570 is a BYO (Build Your Own) shotgun concept that can be assembled with commonly available hand tools and also is compatible with already existing Remington 870 pump action shotgun parts. Once released, PSA will be offering both complete shotguns in a wide variety of configurations, as well as standalone receivers and likely even receiver sets for the DIY crowd who wants to build their own shotgun.

This announcement has spurred immense interest among firearm owners and enthusiasts keen on upgrading and optimizing their gear.

California-based Infinite Product Solutions, a well-known manufacturer of muzzle brakes, comps, flash hiders and particularly their sound redirect muzzle devices, has announced it will be releasing shotgun choke tube adapters. This latest release continues Infinite Product Solutions’ tradition of innovation and evolution, adding to their extensive range of firearm components.

SHOT 2024, the international arms fair that brings together worldwide firearms manufacturers, featured a Turkish entrant, Balikli Arms that flexed its dynamic range from air rifles and semi-auto pistols to tactical rifles and shotguns. Highlighting their offerings were a combination break action firearms that have both smoothbore and rifled barrels. The company reiterated their prowess in creating high-end shotguns, honed from 40 years of manufacturing experience.
