Savage 110 Magpul Scout: From Practical To Tactical
Savage Arms is once again remixing its trusty bolt-action hunting rifle into something a bit more tactical-ish, with the introduction of the 110 Magpul Scout.

If you’ve been paying attention for a while, you know that Savage has been making scout rifle versions of its bolt actions for years, including the Axis and 110 bolt actions. These scout rifle conversions follow the pattern laid out by Jeff Cooper. Lightweight, cut-down and handy, and chambered in a short-action cartridge. Iron sights are standard, with provision for a forward-mounted scope.
That’s the pattern we see again here. The 110 Mapgul Scout is similar to the previous Model 10 FCM scout rifle, and it has even more in common with the current 110 Scout. Like the 110 Scout, the 110 Mapgul Scout has a 16.5-inch barrel, threaded for muzzle attachments (a brake comes standard). It takes AICS-pattern magazines and also has Savage’s proprietary Accu-Trigger, adjustable in the 1.5-4 pound range. The peep sights are adjustable, with an AR-style front post. The new Magpul Scout has a much longer scope rail that should accommodate long-eye-relief scopes as well as optics in the traditional rear-oriented mounting position.
The biggest difference is obvious because it’s in the name. The 110 Mapgul Scout comes with a Magpul Hunter stock with an aluminum bedding block and a length of pull adjustable between 13 and 15 inches. M-LOK slots are built-in on the sides and underneath, to allow for easy accessory attachment. Buyers have the choice of black or FDE-colored stock.
The rifle is chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester or .450 Bushmaster, sporting a factory blueprinted action with the usual three-position tang safety. It’s available in either left-hand or right-hand configurations.
From the factory, mag capacity is 10 rounds for the 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Winchester versions, or four rounds for the .450 Bushmaster version.
Savage has published no weight figure for the new rifle yet.
Available in early 2024, the new rifle will come with an MSRP of $1,099. For more information, check out the Savage Arms website.

I actually like the old Savage 110 Scout stock, but I love the longer optic rail on the new Savage 110 Magpul Scout so an LPVO can be used.
It would be nice if Savage made that long rail available to purchase for those with the previous Scout 110 Scout.
