VIDEO: NEW Glock 28 Full Review

by James Reeves

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reviews one of the first Glock 28s to be made in the US. The Glock 28 is a subcompact pistol that is chambered for the .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) cartridge, and it is primarily designed for concealed carry and personal defense. It was originally made to get around laws that prevented citizens from owning military calibers.

However, it’s important to note that the Glock 28 was not available in the United States due to restrictions on the importation of firearms that are not classified as sporting weapons. The Glock 28 was only available for sale in select countries, primarily in South America and Asia, subject to various licensing and regulatory requirements in those regions.

However, that ends today. Glock is now manufacturing the G28 in the United States, and thus, the baby .380 Glock will be available for civilian purchase for the first time in the US after over decades of production.

That's almost informative. Couple of very key things just skipped over in the review, alas. From the content provided, I'd buy two 80X before a 28, for which I probably *shouldn't* say alas.

    - I don't know where this idea came from that a .380, being 'marginal' or 'anemic' or whatever adjective you prefer, needs to be completely crippled by a microscopic barrel also. OK, there's an idea of a pocket pistol ('cause I also want to maximize the chance of grunge-induced malf), but give it a rest. The opposite ought to be the meme among firearms enthusiasts.

    - *if* you want a .380 it's to max shootability and follow-up (as in the enjoyment seen in the vid). Not "because the user is old and weak" but "because the user wants to be able to rip off a defensive sequence under pressure and doesn't have range training as their #1 hobby." Painful, bad trigger, awkward pistols don't get any range time because it is work and we all have enough work.

    - The #1 complaint I've heard about the 42 (no, #2, behind 'why isn't it a 43') is its narrow width combined with typical Glock trigger giving a tendency to push. A comparo with the 42 is needed in terms of carry by regular people. James (and I, and most readers) have a huge bias against ever needing to defend because we're in some sort of shape and have eyes up. Criminals hate that. The other 98% deserve to live probably too; so what works for them since they're not dressing for and living for the moment of crisis?

    - The prior 28 was blowback. Blowback pistols like PPK and Cheetah have barrels that don't move. This one did, and James speculates that it's maybe delayed locking, or a hybrid. Hello firearms reviewer, can you depress the little levers and give us a look or did some NDA jump into your camera and stop you after you demonstrated that the 26 and 28 could swap frames?

    - Are we supposed to expect the range of Glock sight makers to have a special 28 line, or will things (as I expect) designed for the 26 just work in the 28?

    - This one's for the folks at Smyrna. You completely missed a chance to create a BUG nerd craze by not making this 28 in MOS config. Beretta didn't. My daily, one-gun-because-it-does-everything is the PX4CC; but I'll probably buy the 80x and dot it just because it'd be fun to drill one hole at 50y and frighten the range people struggling to get a 50y group with a rifle... I would not do the same with the 28 as offered.

The sequence from 9:40 about th Ruger LCP was interesting - at least for me! Yeah, when it comes to sizes of pistols and weight: How small might be too small? How light too light?

I wonder in this light, how much sense the small .45s make.
